Morning ....hope you have a good day xxx0

It's a new month, so I've updated my signature. It wasn't the greatest feeling as my debt has gone down by just £39.37 since 1 June. Well at least it's gone down.
We had £414.99 more go out than come in last month, the 4th month this year that there was a shortfall. This month promises to be just as bad with neither OH nor I having loads of work. And OH is not doing anything about finding more work to fill the gap til teaching starts again. Grrrrr.
I had a call in from a friend looking to subcontract some editing work, she's sent the first two bits already and I'll do them this afternoon to impress her with my speediness. But I must make an effort to get more well-paid long-term work in.
July could be an expensive month The kids and I are going to a friend's wedding on Saturday. While it won't be a dressy occasion, they do have to look at least presentable. At least 2 of them have no footwear other than battered old school shoes and trainers. DS lives in outgrown hand-me-down trousers and t-shirts that I don't think will do for a wedding.
It's DD1&2's birthday on 22nd and they've invited 12 friends for a barbeque. Last year we gave them socks and knickers for their birthday. I'd like to give them something a bit more special this time, but they are very understanding so if it's socks again they won't mind.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Can't do a "long" post (thank goodness, I hear you cry) as I am sneaking on at work.....
....but just wanted to say "at least the debt is going down" :j Be proud - it could have increased, but it didn't :TSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Just want to remind you of the wisdom of spending most on what you wear most - and for a one-off occasion like a wedding - cheap and cheerful frocks - or floaty things you can wear over trousers - beaded flipflops etc Don't be swayed into buying anything costly for a wedding.... as long as they are clean, colourful and smiling ..... Good luck!Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -
Echoing everyone in support of you, Seaxwyn - and I love bountiful's point about spending most on what you wear most, the cheep and cheerful stuff does well for a wedding - and looks beautiful years after in the photos, too, remember! Hope the work situation improves for you soon.

Hi Seaxwyn
Just catching up with my favourite diaries (taking a while as there are many!) - well done on reducing the debt - every bit helps and down is down. And huge positive competition winning vibes for the california holiday - chance to see old friends - fab!0 -
Don't worry folks, there is no way I will splash out on wedding outfits! I don't have the money, and after eighteen months of DFW indoctrination I think I'm actually incapable of using a credit card. I will buy DS a shirt, as the only one he has has Bart Simpson on it and whilst I think a seven year old can get away with that, OH thinks not. Otherwise we will make the best of what we have.
After stressing about the lack of work a week ago, I'm now stressing about having too much. I've had four new offers of work over the last week, all quite substantial for the immediate future at least. So I have to buckle down and increase my productivity rate! I do feel humbled by the way this work has all dropped into my lap just when I needed. I really feel the universe is on my side.
I've been increasingly exasperated with OH, who appears to be doing nothing to get work in, but he did say this morning he's going into a temp agency today so I will withhold my wrath for now. Also I hope he's going to fry 50 samosas for me tomorrow morning (to take to the wedding) so I have to keep on his right side til that's accomplished.
Right must get on with work. Catch y'all later.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Oh Seaxwyn,
I'm so glad 4 (FOUR!!) offers of work have come to you. That's such good news. You must be really good at what you do to have 4 (FOUR!!) unsolicited jobs come in just like that. Well done. And couldn't have come at a better time for you. Just got to get the work done now, (so I hope your green light doesn't mean you're lurking here)!
Hope the wedding goes well and that Oh gets work and samosas sorted. Enjoy.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420
