Hi all. Half term has taken an upturn as I've more or less abandoned attempting to work.

We had a lovely day on the beach yesterday with friends (my crazy daughters swam in the sea). Today DDs1&2 are doing sporty things with friends and I just have the two youngest scrapping in the house.

DS helped me in the shop one morning and said it was "the best day of his life"! He worked hard, stocking the shelves, pricing things up and cleaning the fridge doors, he was an absolute star.

My work has suffered as a result. The work I picked up on Monday really needs to be done this week (client is chasing) I will have to work over the weekend, which I wanted to devote to entering two writing competitions. Oh well.

OH has been ill all week and consequently not worked. Annoying money-wise and I hope it won't jeopardise his future at the college. He does seem really ill (flu-y symptoms) so I hope it is physical and not depression/breakdown keeping him in bed.

Musicals.... I haven't booked either. I'm really resenting the expense and thinking of proposing a scaled down outing of just me, mum and one child rather than the usual party of six. Or even just not mentioning it and maybe we can skip it this time.

Really feel for you both - stress and depression creep up on us so easily - and we don't always notice - being ill is stressful and depressing anyway too! Your day out sounded lovely. - my DS just seems to create piles of washing up!!!! Where did I go wrong?!
Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!

There is a hell of a nasty 'flu bug going round - OH, DS and I have all had it, really high temps and aching joints, etc. Hope your OH is on the mend!

I'm good thanks. OH is much better from his flu. He gets paid tomorrow and I'm all agog to find out how much.

Debtwise, I feel as if we're in limbo as we're only paying minimum payments at present. I hate doing this and keep trying to think up excuses to make overpayments. But really it's better to put any spare money into the savings at present, as there are lots of things up in the air. Once we have dealt with remortgaging, tax bills etc we can think again.

I've done something rash - I've joined us up to a local rock climbing club. Three of the kids went on a half term 'taster session' and loved it. It only today sunk in that as it is £8.95 per child per session, if three of them go just once a week that's £107 a month, and we're struggling already. OH is saying we can't afford it but the kids are so pleased and excited that I'm inclined to let them go and manage somehow.

Awwww! That sounds good! Can you negotiate with the club, with three of them going? Do they go on those artificial walls? They look great, a lot of fun!

Glad to hear things are on the up generally, tho I know what you mean about the limbo - but its right to hold on and build up the savings when you know you've got bills coming in the near future. It just doesn't *feel* as satisfactory, does it?

Hope OH's money tomorrow is good!
