Re work - I'm going to see one client tomorrow to find out whether some work I should have completed last year but didn't is still required. That is going to be very embarrassing - but could result in 8 days work if they still want it.

I'm sure that won't be much fun, best of luck! Hope they still want the work doing.

What type of freelancing do you do?

Taxi, you are right, the earning/quality time balance is a hard one to find, but I'm earning just to pay the mortgage and bills, not luxuries, so slacking off is not an option. I just need to make sure I do the little things, like read a story to DS EVERY night as he does love it.

Neverdespairgirl - what a lovely profile pic! I do freelance writing and editing for a particular sector, so it involves specialist subject knowledge as well.

Well today's meeting was postponed til Weds so I have a free day. I will get a few hours work done for another client, then get going on cleaning the house and hunting down those darned elusive keys.

I sent off for DD and DS passports today - £46 each!!! - it's outrageous. OH tried to dissuade me from getting DS's as he isn't going anywhere - but I felt I wanted to be able to go if we get an opportunity. The thing I hate most about being in debt is the not travelling - I wanted to bring my children up as citizens of the world.

Also spent £21.14 on make-up. I can't believe I did it. I had a voucher for a free makeover at the Body Shop and ended up buying some of the products. Even though I don't really like myself made-up. I'm not used to seeing myself in foundation, blusher, lipstick... I feel like a pantomime dame.

This is work I have booked:

Client A: 4-6 days in Feb, 2 or 3 days in March. Unlikely to be extended.
Client B: approx 2 days each in Feb and March. Unlikely to be extended.
Client C: 5 days in March (quarterly mag, 5 days 4 times a year)
Client C other work - possibly up to 8 days, possibly none, most likely something in between.

The 3-day a week 3-month job is still not ruled out, they have asked me to go in and talk about but I know they are seeing other people too.

The cringe-making meeting didn't happen yet? Is that the one postponed till Weds? Poor you, I don't know whether thats good or bad!

You made me laugh about feeling like a panto dame, tho! I had a makeup lesson in the Body Shop when I was flush, and I felt ridiculous - it was the blue eye shadow that did it, nobody wears blue any more, it was mad.

I have no work at all today! So I've been loping about on the computer doing matched betting stuff, but I missed out on the best odds as my computer froze, hi ho, still got it done when I got back on tho.

Good luck with the work hunt.

Yes the cringe-making one is postponed til Weds. Giving me an opportunity to make it less cringe-making by dealing with all the apologies etc by email first.

Luckily I got tasteful brown eye shadow rather than blue. But I am slathered in pale foundation with rosy pink cheeks.

Uh, I realise you've only had one and a half hours since your last keys post... but, any luck? Thinking of you.

Seaxwyn, I haven't read through the whole thread, so if this is a repeat please forgive me.

My gas and electricity are with eon - replacement name for powergen - and for a 4 bedroomed detached house with someone at home all the time we pay £59 a month for them both together. I'm not obsessed by turing all the lights off and I put the heating on if I feel cold. I don't understand how you use nearly £100 worth a month.

When we had our massive cut back we found that saving a few pounds here and a few there made a huge difference at the end of a year.

Karma - key hunt hasn't started yet. I've got some work to do so I'm getting on with that and will hunt/tidy when the kids are home.

moanymoany - our fuel bills are a lot less than when I first posted - now paying £36.57 for electricity and last year paid about £20/month for gas - so about the same as yours. You're definitely right, cutting back here and there has a big impact.

Hi guys sorry for not being on on the weekend, but panto and ebaying got in the way. Trying to list more stuff just to declutter the house a bit. OH had to do his tax return over the weekend, but he has promised the protest letter to flippin axa will be done tonight. Sigh.

Seax what a whatsit about the keys. It is so frustrating, when you know they must be somewhere obvious, but you can't see them. I bet when you do find them (see I have faith!), that you groan and go of course that's where they would be.

I don't suppose they are in the drum of the washing machine? Or slipped behind a dresser, or head board of a bed or something.

Good luck on the job front

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
