Thanks for the suggestion !
We've already trawled those colours and most of them from the major paint firms, and all have been deemed to dull or oldish

Dulux literally have thousands of colours they can mix on their machines whereas they only have say 30 in their "off the shelf" range. If you go in and look, by the machine they have loads of little colour cards each with about 6 or 8 similar colours on. Each card has a name like "Golden Yellow" and then the colours are graded Golden Yellow 1, Golden Yellow 2 etc so that you have a choice between pale and more vibrant colours around a similar colour tone.Adventure before Dementia!0

We went to B and Q over the weekend and brought those card colour thingies with the different light dark variations.
Originally she was interested in Pamplona Purple 3 it seemed vibrant enough on the card, but on the 3D tool it seems duller and much less brighter0 -
Get yourself down to the local Johnstons Decorator Centre.
They are a professional outlet and the paint is excellent quality - they also mix to ANY colour you like and have a whole wall of colour cards to choose from. If you flutter your eyelashes they'll give you the trade discount too and it works out cheaper than B&Q. They do Leyland and Johnston paints, I think Johnston is a bit more expensive but I've always used Leyland with no problems.
I did our whole house in colour-matched Farrow and Ball colours and they are identical to the colour card on the wall.
This is their website - you can get prices on there and look at any special offers too. They have some cracking offers on now and again.

Hope that helps!

It's always going to look different on the computer though.
See if they can do you a sample pot.
I am lucky DD is easy when it comes to decor, I am choosing the color muself, The only problem I can forsee is finding an off white with hint of lilac in, that will go lovely with the purple. And I am heading straight for the crayola range.
.
You could also get yourself some cheap white and use a dye?0 -
I'll just download it nowWhat_a_rip_off wrote: »Just to add if you are looking for a bit of inspiration regarding colour schemes Dulux have a great iphone app... You can play about with colour schemes for ages with it.

But anything technical that includes faffing about is likely to lose me and create a total mess!
I'd pay simply for convenience :rotfl:x0 -
Try and get a sample pot of the colour she liked. The colours on a monitor are different to real life.0
