Ok, the machines weren't yours, its fairly irrelevant who they belonged to. My point still stands though. Windows IS a reliable OS these days, granted this wasn't the case in the Win 9x days.
Nothing to say about most of the fire services in the UK running critical systems on horribly unstable Windows systems?
No as it's nothing to do with design.
Although I'd love to see how great and reliable your wonderful windows would be if you take away firewalls, anti viruses, pop up blockers, anti-spyware, email scanners, etc etc.0 -

All you've done is proved that there are 13% more articles per 1% of OS X users than hose using Windows 7..0 -
Again, pretty much all of your points can be answered by market share. If Apple was the dominant player in the market they would targeted by hackers/spyware makers. If they had a bigger market share your friend would be repairing more, the fact he doesn't repair any doesn't mean they don't break. Does he even advertise the fact he can repair apple machines?k0nstantine wrote: »But surely the fact that so many products are available to use to repair a PC shows that the manufacturing industry have acknowledged that PCs aren't always built to last and are providing parts knowing there's a good chance they'd be needed. If this wasn't so, then so the computer manufacturing industry would lose millions each year, and by now, there wouldn't be half as many companies as there are!
As for parts, that's the nature of PC's, unlike most Apple machines they are very customisable.
Apple systems do have plenty of exploits just like Windows, however due to market share these aren't researched/used as much. I know in the last few Pwn2Own hacking competitions Apple machines have been the first to be hacked (one year within minutes) and that was against a Vista machine, which was a terrible OS.0 -
What a ridiculous comment, also see my last post regarding apples security.k0nstantine wrote: »Although I'd love to see how great and reliable your wonderful windows would be if you take away firewalls, anti viruses, pop up blockers, anti-spyware, email scanners, etc etc.0 -

With all these Apple haters out there, and the whole Mac VS Pc thing, surely one would have came up with a decent virus/hack whatever by now? But in the Mac world, it's still very rare for anyone to get any sort of infection/hack.
Iphones are one of the biggest players in the mobile world, yet these don't get hacked or viruses, unlike some other mobile OS.
Yes, he does advertise that he fixes Apple computers.
Yes, the Apple's have been hacked by using the Safari browser, but the hacker admitted he had prior knowledge of a security flaw in Safari before the competition so worked on the exploit prior to the competition, which explains why the hack worked so quickly.
Besides, Windows using Chrome, Firefox and IE have been hacked regularly every year, last year being the exception due to the team not turning up to try Chrome and Firefox.0 -

Again, its all down to market share and not that Apple is more secure than Windows.k0nstantine wrote: »It's true. Without outside security software Windows is useless.
If you had as many Apple machines/users in the world as Windows this would be exactly the same for Apple. Its simply that people create more virus'/spyware/exploits for Windows as more people use it. If your creating malicious software with the intention of getting money from people (ransomware etc) would you target Macs with a 6% market share or Windows which probably has something daft like a 90% market share?0 -

That is possibly true, but at this very point of time, it's also true to say that you're more likely to get a virus/hack whatever using a Windows machine than a Mac, and without any software to protect yourself from it Windows isn't that great.0 -
I've never denied that, but your banging on about how great Apple is/better than Windows, yet turn the tables, give apple a 90% market share and its no better than Windows security wise.k0nstantine wrote: »That is possibly true, but at this very point of time, it's also true to say that you're more likely to get a virus/hack whatever using a Windows machine than a Mac, and without any software to protect yourself from it Windows isn't that great.0 -

Hang on a sec here, my original comment was:
Macs are better than pc's for any sort of design, but a good spec pc that has more than the system requirements for the software you will be using will be sufficient.
That is my opinion and that was my reply to the OP asking about getting a Macs or PC.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion you know. If you don't agree with it, fair enough, that's your choice.
If a certain someone actually answered the OP's original questions, and said something like "i'd chose a PC over a Mac" rather than hijacking someone else's reply and leaving stupid remarks like "sweeping statement", then no-one would have gone into the whole Apple vs Windows debate.0
