My DD2 is 6 months old at the end of the month and this past couple of weeks she has started waking twice a night, usually about 12.30 and 4.30 - she goes back to sleep after a bottle, but I am soooooooooooooo tired. She slept through the night for a few weeks around last christmas, but started waking again, started off being once a night, but now that's increasing.

I tried her with solids a few weeks back, but she wasn't very keen, so decided to leave it until she was 6 months. I'm hoping that once we start weaning properly she'll start to go through the night.

DD1 slept through from about 6 weeks old, so this has come as a shock. Didn't realise how lucky we were first time around! With DD1 we patted ourselves on the back smugly thinking we must have been doing something right... well we're not doing anything different this time so clearly it all depends on the baby and DD1 sleeping through was absolutely nothing to do with us after all!! :rotfl:

So no advice to offer, but helps sometimes to know you're not alone.

Hi! I've just had a baby girl on the 14/04/07. I called her Naomi Olivia.
She weighed 7lb 1oz and was 15 days early.

Brilliant labour and I got to come home the next morning. I'm hoping I pick up lot's of advice and tips from your club.

Congratualtions India! So pleased you had a positive birth experience. Hope you're enjoying your new little angel. :A

Imogen had 7 teaspoons of baby rice yesterday - day 2 of trying it. She knew just what to do and swallowed pretty much all of it. We're so proud!

However, last night was pretty rough. She has been pulling at her ear when she's tired for a few days and didn't seem herself yesterday eve so we gave her some Calpol. She went to bed okay and had her 11pm feed without too much fuss, but woke up at 4.30am. I gave her some more Calpol at 5.30am and her usual bottle at 6.15am but she cried constantly in between. Not screaming, just "I'm tired and I don't feel very well" kind of crying. She was scratching at her head and ears too.

She woke at 8.30 (so I did get a bit more sleep) and seemed okay for 5 mins, but then cried until 10am when she had her next bottle. She feel asleep having this and I've not heard a peep since, which is most unusual. I had a feel in her mouth while she was happy and couldn't feel anything. Spoke to HV and she suggested visit to the docs to rule out an ear infection. Apparently her teeth could just be moving around and bothering her, not necessarily coming through. So off to the docs this pm for the first time with a poorly babe.

Andycarmi - much as I'm loathe to suggest it, have you tried giving your little one a bottle for the last feed? I hated having to give up breastfeeding and wouldn't recommend it to anyone if you're happy, but Imogen definitely slept better after having formula for her late feed. Might be something to try if you're happy to. Congrats on BFing until 7months though, wish I'd managed longer but Imogen just wasn't happy to got back to BF having had bottles all day. I work for myself and had to go back ot work when she was 6 weeks old so didn't have much choice with the bottle thing. After two weeks of us both crying I gave in and put her fully on the bottle and she's been a happy soul ever since. I did get to 14 weeks still feeding her myself, but miss it terribly. Just a thought...

I did try a bottle with her at 4months and she was poorly with the milk so she can't have formula. She has a soya milk and wont take that from a bottle or cup! But will have it mixed in with ready-break:confused: (guess she can't taste it as much mixed with cereal!

She slept 10 till 7am from 6weeks till about 4 months. I think she started waking as she was ready for weaning but I hald out till 5 and a bit months. I thinks she now has got into a rountine of waking up! She is soooo clingy at the moment and its been one thing after another. (teething, rubella and now teething again) She has number 7 and 8 teeth coming through!!!

I know it want be like this for ever but right now I m finding it hard. I m so tired. off to bed now as LO has just gone off for the 2nd time I, hope!!!

She's a bit up and down just now. Think there are teeth at the top and at the bottom. I can see white bits on both gums. She was up at 3.30am and again at 5.30am. Better get on with the weaning I think because she won't sleep later than 6am for her first feed.

Top tip though - has anyone else tried Ashton & Parsons powders? They are a herbal mixture (no drugs) which my sis-in-law recommended for all sorts of stuff. I tried Imogen with some when she'd had the max doses of Calpol and they seemed to work just as well.

Calpol just makes her stoned (literally, she just sits there - it'd be funny if she wasn't ill!) but she's at least still alert after the powders, just not in pain.

They come in little wrappers so are easy to carry around, just don't get arrested or go through customs with them on you because they look V suspicious! Lots of other mums in my groups have tried them and thoroughly recommend them. Available from any chemist apparently :money:

We've just started using the powders too - I think I bought them in Savers. The easiest way to get DS to take them is to dip his dummy into the powder- he then takes it happily.
    The IVF worked;DS born 2006.

Purplepatch she's beautiful! What a great pic. More sharing of baby pics needed!

It was hubby's turn to get up with her this morning - we take it in turns to do the 11pm and 5.30/6am feeds on a weekend. So I woke myself up to feed her at 11pm last night knowing I could have a lie-in this morning. She'd got me up at 5.45am yesterday for a feed and then at 7.30am because she wanted to play.

Well, the little angel slept until 6.45am when she woke for her feed (grrr) and then until 9.30am when she woke up coo-ing and laughing, by which time we were both already awake (double grrr)! Am thinking she's a bit of a daddy's girl... Still, pleased she slept well and hope its the start of a habitat - keep your fingers crossed!

Tried her on sweet potato yesterday afternoon and she demolished loads of it. Nappy was not a nice experience this morning though. Gave her her baby rice at 10am and she was literally leaning forward and opening her to mouth t get to the spoon, then smacking her lips in between. Feel completely justified in starting to wean her early!
