Horrible neighbours. Just need to vent!

One of uor neighbours plays loud music as soon as it's 15 degrees. I can't stand it really. Hope you can sort it out soon! Headphones are a must..
I confess that I too when in my car listen to music at a resonating volume and with the windows down. I can't drive with the closed windows as I get uncomfortable and hot (even in cold winter), but then I don't have specially installed speakers and the loud music is purely to produce the vibes that it is intended for!
The other thing is when once a week I clear the clutter from my car and vacuum clean the inside. Again the music will be playing and I am sure it is loud enough to be heard over the road but it definitely doesn't make the floor shake inside another house! You see, when the vacuum cleaner comes on, it totally drowns the music which only becomes audible once the machine is switched off. So I reason thus, if people can bare their own lawn mowers then my music should not cause a problem. Plus, driving to and from home exposes outsiders to it for a few seconds maximum, and when on the drive, it is about 6-10 notches down from average driving volume (each song has a different setting with these MP3 variable sources) and even then, it's an hour at the longest.
I wouldn't like to be considered as one of the rogues here!!!;)0 -
Also, for buyers, our road is actually rather expensive (not an estate as I think some ppl have assumed) - it's not like we knew what we were in for.
Ignored that all yesterday, but it's still niggling at me. Who implied you live on an 'estate'? I was the only one to mention the word 'estate'. There are some very expensive estates (like mine for a start where houses go for up to a million, even the one bed tiny flats go for over £200k - when I've referred to it as an 'estate' before, I had no idea anyone would judge me on that lol).
I don't mean to poke at you, but that did come across as extremely judgemental. Don't usually react, but it's just been niggling at me. When I commented, I didn't even think about whether you lived on a council estate, or if you lived in a mansion. Same rights apply to both in my book.

In fairness I don't 'know', but I would be impressed if they were conducting business while polishing their car and smoking in the front garden all day every day.also the kids play in the street big deal stop being a snob and curtain twitching
You've missed all the times I've admitted to same, said I am uncomfortable with it and that I would like to find ways to stop being like that because I dislike it and gone straight in for the attack.
Bit of a wasted effort on your part when I'm telling myself the same thing isn't it? Or do you think it's impossible to feel annoyed by inherently annoying people without being pig-ignorant and unaware of your own weaknesses yourself?
It doesn't really matter tbh because plenty of people have sympathised with me, said things that really help me get this in perspective and pointed out ways to not be driven to idle snobbery. And that really helped.0 -
I don't usually post, but just wanted to say you have my heart-felt sympathies. I don't think it has anything to be with being a snob, unfortunately some people simply have no consideration for others and it's this that would infuriate me if I was in your situation (as it would many others I'm sure).
Other than moving (which I probably would have to), I don't have much to suggest - however, there's no way I could calmly accept it...0 -
I don't think it's about snobbery at all. What's wrong with hoping for a peaceful life? It can be so aggravating when you have neighbours like this who show zero consideration for everyone around them.
We had some opposite us in a housing association property, they were horrendous. Single mother, 5 sons aged 10 to 22, and various young girls the older sons had made pregnant...screaming, swearing, fighting, boozing, smoking weed...the police at the door on a daily basis...nightmare. One or other of the sons dragged off in handcuffs, to reappear the next day without a care in the world. Snarling staffies loose in the road too.
The sons got into a row with a rival gang of idiots, so we had mob violence in the road. Lads racing round brandishing knives and machetes, windows being smashed in, and one of the sons was stabbed.
We all got together in the road, complained to the antisocial behaviour unit, and FINALLY they were evicted.
We hadn't realised just how seriously our quality of life had been affected till peace was restored. It was just soooo quiet and nice again when they'd gone!
Definitely worth getting together with other residents, OP, you DO have the right to a bit of peace and quiet.0 -
I feel for you Crayola. We lived near a horrible family some years ago, they were just the same. Really didn't care about anyone else in the street. All the kids played out, absolutely nothing wrong with that but they were allowed to do whatever they wanted. Mum would shut the front door and tape the letterbox shut so she wouldn't be disturbed! Dad would be in the street polishing the car endlessly. They didn't work and to my knowledge still don't, 30 years later. On a sunny day, the sofa would be dragged into the front open plan garden. We couldn't wait to move.0

Contact the Council, contact the local housing authority (I'm guessing they are renting?) contact your local police/PCSO's, speak to your neighbours (surely if it is that bad it must be upsetting other people too?) if there are child issues then contact social services.
I'm all for live and let live but some people are just so damned inconsiderate - anti-social behaviour should be stamped on from a great height.0 -
They might not be on benefits, and what's wrong with children playing in the street?0

Exactly, its not asking for much to have a bit of peace and quiet in your street. Why dont they use the back garden?
By contacting the above, it can be established if they have a history of anti social behaviour, whether they are on housing benefit/other means tested benefits and whether their kids are generally unrully at school. If they are playing the system they will soon be found out, but it takes someone to flag them up.0
