HTC Desire S cracked screen - what is the best solution?

Yesterday I dropped my phone on my kitchen floor and the screen now has a crack in the bottom right hand corner. Unfortunately I don't have phone insurance (I know school boy error). I also don't have home contents insurance.
Now, what will be the most cost effective way to fix the phone? Sending it into HTC or buying phone insurance then waiting a week or two to claim? Or should I buy some contents insurance and then claim on that if it is possible? If so, what are the best companies to go with?
Any help would be appreciated.

Well your latter suggestions are fraud. So either option one or going on ebay and replacing the screen yourself. Just be aware that this may invalidate your warranty.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0

Oh behave.
I buy phone insurance then wait a week/month and put a claim in.
I am sure NO ONE has ever done that before.

Its still fraud and puts up the cost of insurance for everybody. Why do you deserve special treatment at the expence of others?
EDIT: Anyhow you got your phone in April and I don't think insurance companies accept old phones on their policies. Probably for the exact reason that you are planning.0 -

Well I'm not going to go out and spend £400 on a brand new phone when I can get one for a £50 excess.
If you can say that you would do that, you are a liar.0 -

Nope it was suggested you get a new screen. I would not commit insurance fraud and I would also lose my job if caught.0 -

I'm not lying. I insure my devices from the start. I hope whichever company you use to commit fraud catches you out. People like you are why I have to pay high premiums and I'm not about to suggest you commit petty crime either. I doubt many people here would either.
Posting about it on the internet too. You bright spark.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0 -
I also agree with MissKeith and Bongedone. People like you are the reason my all my insurance premiums have rocketed this year.
What you are suggesting is illegal and you have a cheek to slate other posters for pointing this out to you. If you want to insure your phone, do so BEFORE you break it and if not, pay to get it repaired like any honest decent law abiding citizen would do.0 -
u can get it repaired. i got a quote for £75 for repair of htc desire screens from a place in wimbledon that is also on the internet if you search for turn on your mobile u may find it..0

Yeah, I best be careful. The mobile phone insurers will be scouring the internet and then be out baying for my blood. LOL. Get a grip.0 -
