    Hi Loumac & scaredycat,

Have been reading this thread for ages although I haven't written any posts.
I'm doing my PGCE primary at the moment, so can totally relate to the nerves for observations. Good luck with that Loumac!

Was just wondering whether it is still possible to be a flylady as well as a teacher? At the moment, I am so exhausted all the time that I find keeping the flat tidy a virtually impossible task, and I'm starting to feel really guilty about it all. Have only been managing to keep up with the washing, shine my sink and do the 27 fling boogie.

When my boyfriend and I got together 4 1/2 years ago, I used to do so much around the house. Does it get any easier?

PS. Thank you to moggins for your daily tasks, at least it gives me something to aim for even if I don't quite achieve it all.

Hi I was wondering thi too as I have been reading this post with interst fr the past couple of days and trying to join in though without posting.
However, I'm a teacher too and go back to work today- not sure how much I'll be able to fit in but was thinking I could use a flylady approach to school tasks too - not so much the teaching but the paperwork, organising classroom etc - something for me to think about.
Anyway, as to this thread do I have to post each day, or just follow moggins list or what? If anyone could PM me an answer just in case this thread is millions of pages long by the time I get in from work that would be great!
    Thanks
  • Feel such a failure.

You all seem to bake your own break, slow cook your meals and prepare in advance.

I am a useless cook and thinking about what to have for mealtimes is a nightmare. Also I am vegetarian and unsure of cooking meat, especially reheating it. Thinking of investing in a slow cooker as quite cheap, but unsure of a breadmaker as they are more expensive.

Big clean up today, but will be tomorrow too and am going to try to clear out some more clutter and reorganise a few bits.

Don't be so hard on yourself, 3KNM. :grouphug: One of the best things to take from Flylady is *Baby steps* Do a little bit every day, but make sure you do something. You'll be amazed at how quickly you make a difference. You'll find that most of us started like you, but did one thing at a time.

Have you tried Freecycle? Breadmakers often come up there, as well as slowcookers, and other gadgets.

I have a few top tips (saved elsewhere) so will go and find them for you.

Morning all, I would be whizzing round like a mad thing if I could just get DD to finish her breakfast without being nagged to eat every spoonful. If I leave the room she doesn't eat another bit until I come back in again.

    Happy Flying everyone.

    Good morning,

    Plans for today are =

Wipe down kitchen, bathroom and toilets, including the floors.
    Sort remaining paperwork.
    Dust and hoover downstairs.
Make spag bol for dinner tonight.
    Search the house for cobwebs!!!!!

Thats a very doable list today i think - so hopefully will get it all done easily!!!
Have a good day everyone x
  • Hi, all! From 6 months of flying, these are my top tips. I still stick to them, especially if I'm not feeling in the mood for housework (happens often :D :rotfl: ).

    1. Babysteps - do a little bit and finish it, then give yourself a treat.

    2. Use a timer - spend 15 mins on a task (eg cleaning the bathroom, iroining). Do 3 tasks then spend 15mins having a rest. I like to do one task I enjoy, one that I've been putting off, and one that's urgent. So today, ironing, kitchen floor and surfaces, and sorting out a Tax Credit appeal for a friend. You match the task with the heading :D

    3. Keep a small notebook and pencil about your person at ALL TIMES! Jot down jobs that need doing as you see them. This way you don't get sidetracked, and can add to your master list later.

    4. Keep a basket at your side. Any item thet doesn't belong, put in there. Then spend one 15 min slot putting away. I delegate this to small penguins.

  • morning all - have to admit when i was a teacher and had dd1 everything was jsut such a mess all the time, but i gave up a few months after going back!! every thing was still a mess after dd2 born - just started doing the odd days supply but have to admit like being at home more!!!!!

i'm not too good at the housework part but thanks to this site house looking better then ever has!! it was my new years resolution to take control of life in general and i am definitely less stressed with housework

i think someone mentioned it before but its that having complete fear when someone turns up or complete panic when expecting someone!!! and i'm not feeling it so much now

anyway - dressed to shoes (make up and necklace too :rotfl: )
dd1 dressed for preschool and dd2 dressed :T normally a struggle as dd1 likes being in her pjs and any time of the day
taken dh to work (only 1 car and too far to walk)
    beds made
just about to do breakfast and attack washing before walking to preschool - 1st day back!!

have a good day everyone am trying not to come back on for frequent updates but will try to hold back until this evening or at the very least lunch time :D

:mad::mad: Bad morning, ended up falling back asleep (alarm on the otherside of the room didn't help :o should really have headed for the bathroom I guess instead of putting my phone under my pillow to muffle it so I don't wake DD with other alarms :o:o) suddenly woke up at 6.45 when I remembered that I had to wash DD's hair this morning. As I was drying her hair last night I noticed something moving..... nearly 2 hours later I was still trying to rub derbac (which I didn't have enough of  ) into her hair to kill the little b*stard lice and nits. I'm sure she was clear when she went to school on Thursday :mad::mad: Got 10 out so far. This morning I was the hair and start drying it again thinking "got them all :D " when I notice something still moving... they're still alive!!!!! Pulled out another 4 this morning so far and I haven't done her hair for school yet  So a trip to Asda Pharmacy has been added as top priority to my list. I'm past caring how much it will cost I just want to get rid of the damn things! Guess I had better get something I and OH can both use as well...that will take some finding!

Will post the rest of todays list when I get back. Just had to make packed lunch for DD (will make tomorrows tonight, except for the drink), and clean her shoes (OH said he would do that last night  ), and I just want to go back to bed NOW :wall::cry::cry:

sorry posted before reading this - i am jsut rubbish at organising home - i know lots of teachers who do manage it and i reckon flylady approach would be great with paperwork and classroom - 15 minute slots like pp said before going off to staffroom for cuppa - and having small note book and lists to do - that would have transformed my teaching life!!

off topic i know but we just got an excellent comb from the pharmacy - sadly the packaging is gone so i don't know what its called but it has really long teeth which are sort of spiralled and gets eggs out as well - 10yo dd has been clear for two weeks now which is unheard of - cost about a tenner but worth it
