Clutter is definitely the main problem, a house can never look clean and tidy if it is filled to the gills. Personally I'd invest in some nice looking storage boxes so you can just chuck the kids stuff in at the end of the day.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

moggins have you been looking in my house! I have so much stuff on my stairs to go upstairs rofl Been working today so nothing really has been done apart from the tea time dishes and while I was at work hubby started knocking out the old doorframes upstairs and gutted the spare room which has pretty much left a nice mess everywhere for me to sort tomorow! Busy day me thinks
  • I'm just relaxing for half an hour on here before bed after another productive day.

    Done:
    • 2 chickens roasted
    • roast dinner made, plus extra one for my lunch tomorrow
    • spare chicken in fridge for sandwiches and rubber chicken meals
    • 1 x chicken carcass in SC to make stock
    • baby stuff sterilised/washed/put away
    • my CC bill paid
    • sink properly scrubbed
    • all washing up done
    • sides wiped
    • DH updated his financial paperwork ready for doing tax return
    • 1 trip to tip to recycle xmas tree
    • 1 to take waste cardboard from chrimbo to recycle
    • TD emptied, clothes folded
    • my wardrobe decluttered, with 6 items to go charity shop
    • underwear sorted - odd socks and old undies binned.
    • maternity clothes boxed to go in loft for at least a year (3 boxes, when i kept saying i had nothing to wear, but that happens when you dress smart for work :rotfl: )
    • all airers emptied
    • 2 loads through WM
    • one airer refilled
    • windows opened to air upstairs
    • all my new chrimbo clothes put away/tags off
    • charlies toys sorted into a plastic box instead of all over house. (box is overflowing, but looks loads better)
    • trip to supermarket to buy carpet shampoo and cat food that we forgot on Saturday
    • cut up old cards to gift tags
    • empty cat litter trays/feed cats
    • check internet banking

Kitchen is as sparkly as it can be for the week ahead. There are a couple of jobs that didn't get done so i will add that to the weeks tasks. Take down outside christmas lights (couldn't do as it chucked it down and was windy), shampoo kitchen carpet, and put decs and my materntiy clothes in the loft from the landing. Meal plan i can do tomorrow. Will do when i have to sit feeding/playing with baby.:money:

All in all, i can't believe how much we've achieved. I've been putting off sorting out my clothes for weeks, and once i started i actually enjoyed it.

Next big job is the ironing - i managed 2 items, but that is still 2 more than i would have done.

Thanks moggins. Can't wait to start tomorrow as i have already got my lunch prepped, and will make a rubber chicken dish for tea. I need to make some phonecalls and have put them off because i hate ringing people. Oh, and i have a pile of paperwork on the coffee table that just needs to go in the filing cabinet.

Have a nice evening everyone and a good nights rest for tomorrow.
    Michelle, xx

WooHoo! Tomorrow evenings dinner is left over lasagne from today. (There's also a portion in the freezer [duly labelled] for another day!) I love feeling like I have a head start.

I especially love how all the useful threads on this forum all link together to help lead a more organised life! I am currently trying to be a flybaby, follow the grocery shopping and storecupboard challenges and it all seems to be coming together!

Have a scary observation at school tomorrow. As a new teacher I'm observed every half term and I'm very nervous so off to get a good nights sleep. Depending on how well the obs goes depends on how motivated I am towards all the other tasks on the list.

Luckily I live in a first floor maisonette and as my stairs are my main entrance to my home nothing tends to get left there!
Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...
  • Ok did not manage to do all the jobs I wanted to do today but still feel as if I achieved loads. Took DS to swimming, went to church, cleaned and shined half of the tiles in the bathroom and took down shower curtains for washing. Did 3 loads of washing, hung up to dry. Tidied my bedroom, living room, kitchen, hoovered and tidied halls. Bought loads of storage boxes from Argos ( great bargain. 2 drawer units with three drawers in each and got 6 medium sized lidded boxes free. Each set was meant to be £19.99 but were £13.49 in sale) I needed these as I was not able to even contemplate my ds's room without them. Tidied my ds room but to be honest just shoved all the junk into said boxes but looks so much better and will treat these boxes and drawers as hot spots until cleared. Made chicken casserole in SC ( was delish) filled DW and dd emptied it. Didn't get ironing done or windows and need to finish bathroom but am knackered now so they can wait till next weekend. House is definately getting there though xx:T
