p.s. if anyone has bits of the house that I haven't mentioned can you jot them here on the board and I will compile a list of other bits to include.

Hmmm... How about home office and the cupboard under stairs (or a.n.other cupboard for those without a cupboard under the stairs)?? Also, how about some encouragment to get us to remove those yucky mildewed bits from behind the sink and around the shower?

DD waiting to go on msn, so must type very quickly!

Had a morning off, having coffee with friend. :D

After lunch, hoovered hall and landing, also upstairs bedrooms, spending 5 minutes admiring DD's room! Boys have been alerted to need to clear room tomorrow. ( Anything on the floor Monday morning gets bin bagged!) Then an hour or so in the garden, very nice. All uniforms done, as well as bed linen and all the rest of the washing.

Menu planned, but don't usually cook meals and freeze, so have left that out.

I'm still struggling with my bedroom. I did manage to remove another stack of magazines, and think I'll offer them on freecycle. Quite a lot of the rest of the stuff has to be kept, but I don't know where!

Have had lightbulb moment - problem is definitely lack of suitable storage for the things we need to keep. Am considering making a list of all items, and thinking about what sort of storage we need for them. (Good way to avoid actually doing anything about it...;)

pigpen - am worried that we haven't heard from you since you put on biohazard clothing and waded in...

LOL and there was me thinking of course the girls know to do those bits (skirting boards, light switches etc) when I say what room we are on :D

Home office I shall definitely stick in there. I don't have one but my computer is inside a whole hideaway cupboard which looks like a miniature office when it's opened.

The understairs cupboard is a good one too, we'll work on that one along with the main bedroom next week I think.

P.s. I always do my light switches with a wet wipe! They are fantastic for this and really get them clean. It's not a bad idea to invest in a pack of Tesco value ones just for this job. I think they only cost about 50p.

Yeah baby wipes are good for that, Cream of Tartar as seen on Kim and Aggie if they are really bad.

I never pressume people clean anywhere, top of door frame and door are missed by many, inc me this week in DSs room just remembered those, darn it! Will do it tomorrow.

Looking forward to the understairs cupboard day as I haven't got one :D

Home office, I suppose computer desk areas will come under that, darn it we have one very big one in sitting room and the 2 in the boys rooms :( evil Mermaid mentioning that one! Saying that seeing the monitor without stretching is good sometimes.
One day I might be more organised...........

I have got an understairs cupboard and I am not looking forward to that one! It's very small and I have to work out how to fit DH's other 6 trumpets in there, 6 boxes of christmas decorations, 1 box of bootsale stuff and a 4 man tent!

We had a slight role reversal here today:D

    OH:
    • Up, breakfasted, bathed & out by 11.30am to go shopping for my pressie with DD
    • Made lunch for him and DD (I didn't want any)
    • Spent about 3 hours doing all the ironing for this week :j
    • Washed dishes
    • Made DD tea
    • Wrapped pressie & wrote cards
    • Put DD to bed
    Me :
    • Up at 8.15 with DD, came down at 9am after not being able to get back to sleep and made us breakfast (tea & toast)
    • Sat at the computer until 11.30, save 5 minutes while I washed my hair before OH used all the hot water for his bath ;)
    • Went for a bath while other 2 were out.
    • Back on the computer
    • Tidied livingroom while comps on Pigsback loaded up (for some reason it's slowly for me lately? )
    • 2 loads of washing done and on hangers drying
    • Spent rest of day until 6pm on the computer
    • Made myself dinner
    • Watched TV until 9.10pm
    • Back on the computer
I don't know what happened but it was most definitely a role reversal day :rotfl: I'm just wondering whether OH would have thought to put the washing on if I'd left it ;)

Anyways I've got tomorrow off, except maybe I'll make DD's lunch for school, we're even going out for a meal using a leisure voucher OH got through Pigsback..okay so it will probably be Pizza Hut but anything is better than cooking :D Plus I LOVE pizza :rotfl:

Can't wait to see what I've got for my birthday, I've asked everyone for money or Argos vouchers as I was going to buy a breadmaker...but there I was looking at the other threads about gadgets and I noticed alot of people singing the praises of Kenwood Mixers... so I've priced one (with food processor, juicer & liquidiser) at £99.79 from Argos and a Morphy Richards 6.5l slow cooker which I'm going to get even if I have to top it up with some savings ;) I'll hopefully easily make up the money I spend from savings with ebay sales and out of my money-bottle :D

Off to finish off a lovely lazy day with a few games on secondlife....laters

  • hi all, i haven't posted for a few days - had such a busy day on thurs (tutorial all day) and then out for dinner in eve then yesterday i too had a pants day - was good to read moggins post that lots people were too. I think i was just tired and sugar withdrawal reached a peak - was v v cranky and awful headache BUT what a difference a day makes!!

today felt much better and tackled house before spiral into chaos took real hold and am actually surprised at results :T and also tackled one small but significant hot spot and the room looks better again just for that

hope everyone else has had a better day today too - my news for sharing today is that first direct paid up my bank charges (well offer letter) on the first letter so just under £1000 to pay off debt :j :j

but then this evening dd1 (3 1/2) was looking at my tummy (i had jsut taken off my longish jumper) and said she thought i had my trousers on back to front because normally the fat bit goes on the back!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

oh well - good job given up the sugar then!!

happy birthday nicki - enjoy your pizza

Nicki - hope you have a great birthday :D

Lightswitches - a dampened corner of a microfiber cloth always works for me (and mine get filthy!)

IT was a late start for me. Couldn't get my franny into gear until after my midday 'passout'. I believe I have vindicated myself by tackling the understairs cupboard and two large drawers. Little done in the way of actual cleaning (except to clean inside the cupboard/drawers) but it's more than I'd have done if it wasn't for the constant reminder of this thread :D

That is because we went in there at 10am.. and I came out again.. at 6pm!!!!!!!!!

The room is 9ft x 6ft. We filled 3 binbags have 5!!!! binbags of washing and the blind I had bought for the window is too small so he is curtainless tonight, or until I can manufacture a blind that fits.

We have put the carpet down which we have had for 13 months!!! screwed down the loose floorboards, removed long dead smoke alarm from ceiling (leaving pink unpainted patch so white emulsion is coming out tomorrow).. and added about £3 to my mortgage pig... my payment for cleaning his stench. DH picked stuff up wearing gardening gloves!!!

And do you know what.. he doesn't even CARE that I went in there, threw out ALL his girly mags, rifled through his personal stuff.. some of which I wish I hadn't!!.. saw the things he REALLY REALLY wishes I hadn't seen (like the photo he has of his gf's boobs... ssshhhh) That is going to be VERY useful in persuading him to do things.. his dad doesn't know.. *evil grin* I didn't even get as far as the 'used' condoms I found (self satistaction, no girls allowed in his room has been the rule for a long time)

I washed his bedsheets, and duvet cover, binned his pillows.. they were rank and ... wiped down the paintwork. I informed him the room is going to be slapped with emulsion as well because I cannot stand looking at it any longer. AND... yes there is more... I wiped the 2 boilers and decided they are to be replaced with a more efficient one ASAP.. dh even fixed the window so it closes properly.

I even got carried away with myself and cleared and vacuumed the bit of landing outside the bathroom.. (it is a long corridor type thing off the main landing)

All in all a VERY satisfying day.

WM been on all day (10 loads I think)
TD been on all day (ditto above)
folded and put away 8 loads of washing from yesterday and today.. 4 more waiting to go away now
DW been on twice and needs to be on again.
BM been on thanks to DH
Sent DH shopping so the freezer is full of junk so I need to do a proper shop

DD1's bedroom tomorrow.. all 7ft x 5 of it.. how many hours do you reckon it will take to do this one????

the little 3 had a fab time though running about on my newly cleared landing! .. That made it worth the effort, though some of the mess has found its way into my room.. must ebay it!
