Sorry havent updated but things have been up and down so have been scrubbing my flat from top to bottom, doing those once in a while jobs like washing curtains, windows, skirting, behind the fridge etc.
Managed to get 2 chests of drawers, a makeup style dresser, wardrobe and bed from ohs aunty. The drawers and dresser came yesterday so they have been put in and filled with clothes making MUCH needed space. Wardrobe is coming any min now, and bed next week sometime. All 2nd hand but v good condition. Grandad seems to be more stable now, he spoke a bit his heart has stopped 15 times but they still dont know whats wrong with him, so fingers crossed he will make a full recovery.

aww your really having it hard, my granny had a suspected mini stroke last week altho no-one really knows 100% yet so i know how you feel, sadly one day we will lose them and i'm not sure how i'm going to deal with that
your doing really well to keep things so low when you consider some people spend your whole budget on parties, sat won't be long coming round you'll be fineDEC GC £463.67/£450
EF- £110/COLOR]/£10000 -
Quintwins i know what you mean im 23 and everyone seems to be falling ill in their old age in my family and i feel like i will be losing someone special to me soon and i dont know how to deal with it when that happens its sad, oh's gran died a few months back, one of my grandads had a stroke a few months ago, my other grandad heart stopped 25 times in the end, and oh's mum stayed here last night as she has been in and out of hospital with heart/blood/gallstone problems for the last 4 years though it seems to be a lot worse now she had another appointment today they have had to send an ambulance for her 3 times in the last week. Guess you can just make the most of the time you have left with them.
No more spending yet though i might go later to tesco and bulk buy some value spaghetti & penne as they are both down to 18p for 500g, probably buy about 10packs each, that will save me some money. Am going to start my mealplans for next month and draw up a provisional shopping list for next month.SPC Member#1096 Target £150 Feb Count £82.18

Ok some more spending
£1.80 10pks value penne
£1.26 7pks value spaghetti (yes i cleared out the store)
£0.69 granulated sugar
£0.89 tortilla wraps
£2.00 chicken dippers
£0.79 various whoopsied fruit & fruit bags from asda including applesx1bag pearsx1bag bananasx6 mixed fruit bags x8 celmentines x2bags orangesx2bags
so that all comes to £7.43 all together
probably need some more bread next week, mushrooms some carrots and green runner beans to make some soup, im actually amazed that for £100 how much i have left in the cupboards and the freezer that i can use up,just from the top of my head i have left from the last 2 months 4 whoopsied meals, enough mince to make 2 spaghetti bols, at least 4 packs of chicken, 3 1/3 jars of dolmio sauce (each jar makes 3 spag bol) 2 nearly full jars tomato puree, half a pack of weatabix, jar of mayonnaise, loads of spaghetti & penne, bulgur wheat (1 fine, 1 coarse packs)
im sorry i havent kept this as updated as i would like to but with ds birthday, painting the house, mil sick everything has been up and down and so busy, will try to keep you all more updated next monthSPC Member#1096 Target £150 Feb Count £82.18

A couple of thoughts I have had while reading your thread are: Have you tried squashing the loo rolls a bit so they are more difficult to get the paper off, this stops people just pulling loads off at a time.
Also it's September and it's been a bumper year for apples. Have you tried looking on freecycle to see if anyone is begging people to take them off their hands? Not sure if you use much fruit but you could do a pudding and bulk out one of your meals that way.
Have you tried buying large bags/sacks of potatoes - they tend to work out a lot cheaper.
Risotto is a cheap meal to make and very filling. It's a good way to use up a little left over meat or bacon.0 -
Sorry for lack of activity on here everybody, there has been so much going on here inc. mil and bil staying with us, me taking an extra day at work every week. I have been rushed of my feet right now im multi tasking doing this and in the bath relaxing at the same time. Hopefully this month will be less eventful so i can update (fingers crossed) everyday.
Sadly will not be able to move to a better area now because of financial situation, so we will make the best of what we have!! Month is not looking good already as my washing machine broke down yesterday (and when i say broke down, really really broke down literally went CAPUT)
Firstly, last month i came in at £99.77 after buying some bread/fruit/veg from the turkish shop when mil/bil were here
Now for this month i started yesterday with my first main tescos shopping
This included:
Domestos 4l
Cocacola 2l x3
Milk 4l
Sweetcorn 340g x3
Value Cheese £1.91
Tomato Ketchup 1.5kg £2.97
Mushrooms 250g x3
Yorkshire Puddings
Value Potatoes 5kg
Crunchy Nut 750g x4
Fish Fingers
Value Garlic Bread x4
Value Plain Flour x2
Carrots 0.75kg
Value bread x2
Beef burgers x2
Chicken Dippers x2
Baby Corn
Value Eggs
Knorr 20 Stock Cubes
Philadelphia 200g
Tortilla wraps
Sensations Crisps x2
So that lot came in at £39.77 (minus some vouchers found on mse printable coupons thread)
No meat/chicken on the list as i will be using what i have leftover in the fridge from the last 2 months
I also did some turkish shopping that came in at £13 odd But i cant find the receipt as obv i am in the bath, but will find it later and update.
Will also try the toilet roll trick you suggested pennypusher
Menu Planner has been done for the month and is in my home planner (which is finally finished and am chuffed since it looks fab and has everything i need in it to plan my month)
This morning we all had crunchy nut for breakfast, leftovers for lunch and chicken fajita wraps for dinner (which had 5/5 fruit veg portions lettuce, peppers, baby corn, mushrooms and an apple that i snacked on that i found at the back of my fridge when cleaning it)
Will hopefully be back tomorrow to update what i have eaten/spent might go whoopsy hunting tomorrow as i dont finish work till 7.30pm
How is everyone?SPC Member#1096 Target £150 Feb Count £82.18

Hi, just been reading all of this, and its very admirable what your doing! When everything seems to be crumbling around you, I found the best way to simply keep busy, and try keep your mind off things because otherwise you will have a meltdown yourself.
Have you ever tried making a vegetarian chilli? I used to make it all the time at uni.
recipe:
In a non-stick pan over medium heat, saute the onion, bell pepper and garlic just until lightly browned, about 3 minutes.
Add the beans, tomatoes, and seasonings. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes.
Stir in the sweetcorn and courgettes and continue to cook until the courgettes are just tender, not mushy, about 7 minutes.
that recipe serves six but if you double it, it comes to:
2
Tesco Courgettes Loose Class 1
£0.62
2
Tesco Value Sweetcorn 325G
£0.70
4
Tesco Value Chopped Tomatoes 400G
£1.32
4
Tesco Value Dark Red Kidney Beans 400G
£0.64
1
Tesco Garlic Each
£0.19
1
Tesco Market Value Peppers
£1.13
2
Loose Brown Onions Class 2
£0.37
Basket Summary
Total Clubcard points 8
Total MultiBuy savings £0.00
Guide price (14 items) £4.97
And there is leftover peppers and garlic there. You don't need to add the spices in thats required in the recipe you can just add some pepper. It really is warming and filling and healthy... and each portion works out at 41p.Save 12k in 2015 challenger NO.128 £0.00/£8000
