Bangor speed ramps .....

cruesfan wrote:I saw an interesting incident this evening on Silverbirch. The young guy in front gave way to oncoming traffic at each speed hump so as he had a clear space to pass the humps in the middle of the road. Definitely an accident waiting to happen at these humps!!
At least he's stopping!!
Some of the drivers in Derry (i.e. one of the many ignorant taxi drivers) just drive thru the middle of these ramps regardless of oncoming traffic - forcing the oncoming traffic closer to the footpath!!0 -
Well I guess whoever must have done their review and they had a load of ramps still in storage - DW has just phoned to tell me that they are building more of them. I definitely think someone must be on the take to be putting so many of these damned things in. I feel sorry for the people of Perry though ... Albany will be much quieter but Perry will probably become the main flow of traffic - unless they have plans to wreck that road as well.
I see they still haven't had the intelligence to fix the signs yet.

Roads Service and Intelligence - are you having a larf??!!
They're building away at them on Albany this morning.0 -
Wow, a 2 month delayed reaction. You know if you are that jealous you could always apply. You'd have to pass the aptitude test though and if successful might be upset to find out you only get 30 days annual leave when you've been in for either 20 years as an Admin Assistant to Executive Officer 1 grade or 15 years at Staff Officer.
Oh and unlike you I get paid for all of my work, not just some of it....0 -
After taking a hissy-fit at some doddering old biddy doing 5 mph in fornt of me I have found out that if I hit the ramps at just under 40mph my car hardly feels them (must be something to do with the suspension geometry) ... its incredible its almost as if they don't exist.
I don't however condone anybody from speeding, however you might just find a speed that suits your suspension.

I agree. Hit them square on at just over 40 and it's like they hardly exist!!!!0

Here we go again!!
Just noticed the speed ramps and the orange poles beside them have been removed from the Gransha Road end of Bexley Road. Nice holes in the road there at the minute. Wonder what we'll get this time and more importantly how much more money is being wasted?0 -
My post of 11 July last covered that (on page 4)
"The result of this review is as follows:-
· Approximately 1/3 reduction in the number of features
· Speed cushion type road humps on Bexley, Silverbirch, Robinson and
Kilmaine, replaced with either 9m or 11m elongated road humps
· The removal of cycle lane delineation kerbs and posts"0 -
If the road humps are anything like the ones near our office, the black and yellow ones that are bolted the entire way across the road then they are even worse.
Someone should lose their job over this waste of tax payers money
