Bangor speed ramps .....

Keep up the good work Big Al!!
I live in Bexley and agree that the ramps are a complete disaster. I don't think they have much effect in slowing down traffic. Most people are used to them by now. On Robinson Road it is intersting to watch drivers going along the white lines to avoid the ramps and then dodging oncoming traffic at the last minute. Surely this defeats the purpose of the ramps.
Have you noticed that we now have some orange marker poles beside the some of the white poles? Roads Service must think we have bad eyesight!!0 -
I noticed the orange markers ... what a flamin eyesore ... we have ramps, white lines, lumps of concrete, white poles and now orange poles. I bet the orange poles don't last much beyond the weekend. I think whoever is responsible for this mess in Road Services should be sacked for crass stupidity. What is it going to take for our civil service to recognise their incompetence ? ... the pollution is horrendous ... if I lived along Ashbury I would be doing something about it because I reckon the pollution levels must be devaluing those houses.
The worst bit is people coming out of Bexley onto Ashbury ... they try to come across the road to straddle the ramps which means they go onto the filter lane for turning right ... an accident just waiting to happen.

You forget that in the Civil Service, incompetence is a pre-requisite for employment. ;-)0 -

Thank you for your email of 3 June 2005 in which you have enquired about the provision of traffic calming measures for Ballycrochan Road, Bangor.
As you maybe aware, Roads Service held two public meetings to discuss proposals to traffic calm Ballycrochan Road, from these meeting we proposed three alternative schemes. Further consultation with residents was carried out. However, we were unable to get a traffic calming scheme that was acceptable to the majority of residents we therefore introduced a traffic management scheme that would incorporated central hatching, right turning pockets and cycle lanes. These measures have been provided and we do not have any immediate plans to provide any further measures at this time.
I trust this clarifies Roads Service's position on this matter.
I think this demonstrates that these issues can be addressed by consultation and representation from those living in the area.0 -
Good news for Ballycrochan Road ... although remember that they did something similar along Ashbury a few years back and we still have ended up with the disaster area that we now have.
I have recently found out that my MG bottoms out on a couple of the ramps and now have no choice but to go out through Ballycrochan (I wonder what will happen when I am left with no escape road).
Wonder why they haven't been back to Albany?

My folks live on the Robinson Raod and recently received a letter from the council explaining that they are now going to replace all speed ramps with proper ones that go across the whole road.
That'll harden the little boy racers :rotfl:0 -
How many more variations until they get it right? Would love to know how much public money has been wasted on this project!!0
