gacky????:rotfl: Is that the same as icky, or more like yukky?
its more a combination of claggy and yukky - its a textural thing rather than a flavour thing as I love the taste!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Got you! Know precisely what you mean now! I must be a bit odd, it is the gacky quality of butternut squash (and other gacky things) that I like! I think those tinned peaches had taken on a gacky quality!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Not sure this comes into the BDSM category but can you share your tricks for getting OH to agree on paint colours ;-)
.Erm.... Petulance/sulking/foot stamping/threats of physical violence/withdrawal of anything he finds remotely enjoyable  (delete as appropriate)
When that didn't work I resorted to the old standby of abject and gratuitous flattery of all his skills.:silenced::whistle: Manipulative? Moi????
It wasn't helped by the fact that it was the most expensive paint in the shop.
If you think that was hard you should have seen me getting him to agree to my choice of door curtain. :rotfl:
Brilliant news about the passport. Been there, done that, got the valium prescription.
Where are Grey Queen and Mardyartha?;):D

BNS - cut into segments, brush with oil and roast with skin on. Fry off an onion otr two and garlic. Add curry powder (or your favourite curry spice mix). Chop roasted squash (easy to peel when roasted, but you don't have to peel at all if you are going to blitz the soup). Add squash to onions, add stock - pref HM chicken, plus pepper, (salt as well if using unsalted HM stock) cook for about half an hour then blitz and adjust seasoning to taste.
Tada! One easy peasy batch of curried roasted squash soup. Works for parsnips and any other squash as well and freezes very well. A dribble of cream makes it luxurious but is optional.
Having said that, I had pea and ham soup today instead! Can't decide which I like best.Just call me Soup Dragon :rotfl:
Crumpets - my local Co-op regularly overstocks these and reduces them to the equivalent of 4p each so I'll not be bothering to make them myself.
To make the day completely OS I mended a zip on a pair of trousers, rehemmed a favourite top, swapped the naff buttons on a CS top for some nice ones I already had in and used 2 feather cushion pads to make my settee cushions plump up.
Then came on here and got loads of free entertainment from the recent posts - how OS is that?
ETA smileyt - add a bit of brown sauce, it's a good gravy improver"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
I always used to peel BNS, but then had a delicious vegetable curry in an organic cafe and they had left the skin on - and it was really ok. I find BNS quite a pain to peel, so useful to remember if you are in a hurry.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

I'm glad that the majority have found humour in my plight.

I am off for an early night but might have a game of squeaky ball with my dog first as she is begging for some attention, little sweetie-pie.
Thank you for a good giggle tonight, I haven't laughed so much in ages!Aspire not to have more but to be more.

All my favourite techniques!! On reflection and looking around the house I realise o got my way 100% so far. You'd think therefore he'd realise by now and just agree at the start!!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I made a stew last night - soya mince, barley, potatoes, carrots, stock. It's OK but a bit boring. Any suggestions what I can add to give it a bit of zing, please? I think I should have fried an onion first but I didn't have any.0

As (yet) another having dabbled into an alternative life on the BDSM and swinging spectrum here, the idea of a knitted gimp mask had me almost spluttering my tea over the keyboard! I can just see it set off with a fetching pom pom or two and in that wool which is multicoloured.....!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
BNS - makes lovely muffins - similar(ish) to carrot cake. Lovely with a vanilla or cinnamon (or vanilla and cinnamon - I''m greedy!) frosting. No need to peel unless you really want to - the skin goes yummily chewy. Seeds are nice roasted off too
Savoury wise, I like BNS in strips with strips of parsnip and carrot and pan fried (add teh BNS after the other two have cooked off slightly) - cook until just beginning to caramelise and an occasional edge is blackened - LOVELY with roast chicken thighs.
