She's only been duped if she doesn't get paid back...you never know she MIGHT really have been telling the truth?
Just saying

FTM (A bit late, I know; I've only just logged on). Sorry to hear about your grandson but if it's any consolation, I too was diagnosed with a heart murmur when I was a small child. I'm now in my 70s !!!0

Yes, I suppose we have assumed that it was a scam, I guess only time will tell whether she was being genuine or spinning a line.
The thing with the £4k would make me wonder!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -

Thank you for that.:T I KNEW there was someone else I meant to mention. :A Sending lots of positive thoughts to you for your grandson FTM. xxx
Ginny I hope your OH feels better soon. xx
Kidcat try speaking to the school board re the access to teachers.
Washing machine has stopped working today.I had a _pale_ moment when I remembered that it is outwith the manufacturer's warranty until OH reminded me that I very sensibly took out an extended warranty at the time of purchase so checked my folder and discovered it is covered until Jan 2012. :j:j:j Trying to get through to the repair centre now as I really need the machine this week as the children are going on holiday on Friday.
Had a really lovely weekend with my family but am down in the dumps now that they have gone home.I'm always like this for a few days when they go but I'll pull myself together in time.
I am very grateful for the time we spent together though and the girls will have lovely memories of this visit as we had so much fun.

ftm, I just wanted to say to try not to worry too much about your little grandson....easier said than done, I know. My youngest had a heart murmur and was very ill for the first three months of his life. Dr's decided to leave it be to see if it would heal naturally rather than operate, and it did. He is now a tall but thin 11 year old who is throwing himself into rugby, hockey and swimming. The only reminder of the hole in is heart is that he has to have antibiotic cover before any dental treatment. So please take heart.
SDG, you did what you thought best at the time and I hope that this incident will not make you lose your faith in it being worthwhile showing kindness to others.
I had a busy day! We had a new 24 hour tesco open today so I thought I'd pop down and do the shopping before work. It was lovely and uncrowded at that time so I think I might make it a regular thing. I hate crowded supermarkets! While I was there I noticed some value trolley cases. Prices: large £2.20, medium £1.90, cabin sized £1.50, and a tiny dinky one that is probably neither use nor ornament but at £1.20 I couldn't resist...so I have a set of five trolley cases for a grand total of £8.30. These weren't on special offer, it was their regular price. They seem like good quality and we can't have enough luggage as we do travel quite a bit, dd is back and forth to her boyfriend's and ds1 will probably be heading to uni on the mainland next year. As someone said to me today, if luggage is going to get torn or damaged on a plane then it might as well be cheap luggage. So if you need a case, keep your eyes peeled in tesco for the one with the value label.
Since getting home from work I've made a bolognese sauce as both boys are home from school at different times this evening and Mr Pink is collecting dd from the airport and it's unlikely we'll all be able to sit down and eat together so I postponed the planned fish pie until tomorrow night.
Haribo, try not to get too down...you know it won't be long until you see them again and dd and I might try to get over before she starts work next month now that you've got decent heating!Have you any idea what time they are due home? It's pretty windy so I hope the crossing isn't too bad.
Ooooops, sorry for the long post.Right off to collect ds1 from the bus station.

SDG31000.......... Well give the woman the benefit of the doubt as the saying goes, and I do hope that she as the decency to come forward with the £50...............She may have learnt her lesson beings she is on a fraud charge already, it may have been genuine what she told you, you will have to wait and see what transpires........I hope she does repay your kindness, better to lose £50 than £40000........good luck.....0

SDG - I think that was a lovely thing you did to help your neighbour. It makes no difference whether she was "conning" you or not - your intentions were kind and good and that's what's important. I think we'd all like to be at the receving end of that - hope this won't change your good nature. And even if your neighbour was being dishonest - well perhaps your goodness will have planted a small seed in her that down the road might blossom into something - who knows?!
GQ aka Tomato Queen - rest assured I won't be beating you on the tinned tomato front. I have about 38 and I thought that was loads! :rotfl:I can't remember who had the peanut butter - I have 7 jars which should see me through to January! I'm wondering if my hygiene is a bit below par as I wouldn't get through the big soap stashes you lot have.I am working my way through shower gels I got as gifts over the years and it's slow going!
Becky - I feel for you pet - very best of luck job hunting. x
Hope everyone else is ok, sending hugs where needed. I just skimmed through today as my mind is occupied trying to figure out how to knit myself a Sarah Lund Jumper (anyone who watched The Killing on BBC4 will know what I am on about!). I've had a lot of helpful advice and I think I'm starting to know what to do but it's ridiculous how obsessed I am!Hopefully once I've finished making the pattern and start knitting it will take up less mental energy!
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

FTM-I have a heart murmur too. It hasn't affected me . I go hill walking every week and feel fine.
I did have to see a specialist when I was pregnant and have anti-biotics in labour. I also used to have to take antibiotics when having dental treatment but they've stopped that now thank goodness-the stuff tasted horrible.0
