I would have offered food not money SDG31000 but its done now. Hopefully you will get it back.

I am at the docs this afternoon and the insurance has rung. They have appointed a solicitor,a physio who will phone me and a courtesy car if I need itbecause I have several days booked out in the middle of October. Thanks for all the advice. Got a hand smack from the male receptionist at the doctors. He said I should have gone straight to A&E after the accident.Dh had a good look at the car and he says the damage is far worse than it appears. The chassis is bent, the suspension is not right and it has also affected the back doors because everything was pushed forwards. I don't know what speed the man was doing but he gave me a hefty whack.
  • Had my loft insulated on Thursday and the loft hatch sealed too so no more drafts in windy weather. Whilst that was being done I went and painted the brickwork at the front with a weather protector type paint. It dries clear and repels water and prevents moss/algae. I have a new damp course but because my house is 100 years old I get penetrating damp in patches where the weather batters the front. Hopefully this will stop it.

Another MSE task was doing overtime on Saturday although it was such a lovely day I was a bit miffed but the extra money will go towards the gas bill. Had our last BBQ on Sat night too.

Oo I also reserved a book called the Frugal Cook out of the library. Lots of cheap recipes and tips, looks really good.

Slightly spoilt my MSE ness by buying jeans for £7 but they should have been £22 and they were a needy want :o
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round

Sounds like a bad day on here for a few people. I hope everything works out for you all. Becky, I am sure you will find something soon and well done on dealing with everything immeadiately - so often people cruise along and don't get things in place which never works. You seem a very positive person and getting all those jobs done will help you feel better.

Just been to see Ds in his new house, its lovely and light and cool. He is a very neat minimalist person, no doubt from years of living with a hoarder like me :rotfl: I am very proud of him and my Dd their homes are always welcoming.

Oh came back from his trip last night (a day early) as he wasn't too good and is pottering about. Hoping he picks up a bit and am glad its still a bit warm and sunny so his batteries re-charge.

Am off to Mr S tonight when its quiet and assess what needs stocking up on before they have another price hike. Mr T is a waste of time, had a look on Saturday night and if thats what they call slashing prices Im a monkeys uncle :rotfl:

I completely agree Onionbreath and hindsight is 20/20, but she lives on my street, I see her nearly every day and have never heard of any problems before this happened. So all I had to go on was the information she gave me, and I had no reason to question it. Now I know better and it won't happen again. It's in my nature to help if I can and I don't want that to change. It's one of my good points and goodness knows I need something to balance out the bad ones. I'm being friendly until I get my money back and then will cut her off.
    Thank you kittie

Just popping in to send positive vibes to Becky. xxx

And SDG, what is done is done and I for one still applaud you for being so kind. :A Don't let anyone take that goodness away from you pet :kisses3:. This is a supportive thread and I hope no one here would sit in judgment of anyone else who posts here. :)xxx
  • SDG; That was very kind of you, and I just KNOW I would have done the same. I'm a sucker for a sob story, and would have felt mean if I hadn't done something to help, couldn't sleep at night.
You learn about these things after the event, and learn by them......but I hope it won't take away your ability to help people, it's not a bad thing. Having said that, if you don't get the £50 back I'll come and punch her lights out

SDG - you have shown someone your heart and I am a great believer that things all come round eventually and your act of goodness will be paid back in some form when you need it I am sure - maybe not by this person but by others who you will have touched with your caring nature previously. So yes today you are down £50 but you have learnt a good lesson in life maybe but also stored up "credits" of kindness and goodness for your future.

Onionbreath - I am sure with hindsight all our lives would be wonderful and perfect - but being human we do make mistakes - and I am inclined to believe that those mistakes are beneficial and help us become better people for them. It should hopefully make us more tolerant of others mistakes - and as the saying goes "let those without sin cast the first stone". I for one have made some enormous mistakes and errors of judgement but each one has made me the person I am today - which I hope is a less abrasive and more tolerant soul.

I remember dating a guy many moons ago when I was having a very tough time - having trusted someone who had gone on to attack me - and his words of advice I have always remembered (even if I cant recall his name!!) - we will all have highs and lows on the journey through our lives and for that we should be grateful for without the lows we would never fully appreciate the wondrousness of the highs.

SGD - You did the right thing - you were not to know that this person was using her now obvious cunning to dupe you. You may now feel like you were foolish, but really you should feel good about the fact that you were willing to help someone. You will learn a worthwhile lesson in human nature, but don't let it change your fundamental belief in doing the right thing. As Kidcat says, you will be hopefully be paid back many times over for your kindness :A.
