If you use CTRL + "-" to make text smaller it makes the advert fit in the left hand margin on the site you referenced. I think there's another more common way of making text smaller but I don't know whether that works because I can't use it on my computer (and cos I can't use it have forgotten what it is).

I only discovered this very recently so don't know if it works on all such sites and, even where it does, it's not always useful because the resulting text may be too small to be read easily.

It's a really annoying problem that's becoming more and more frequent - I suppose we should complain to the websites concerned but I just don't have the energy.

Another way is to press and hold the CTRL button and then use the scroll wheel on your mouse. One direction will reduce text size by one per click round of the wheel, and the other direction will increase it.

    HTH :)

in my mind I see the peasticks resting on the brackets that attach the radiators too the wall, with the space blanket hanging down between the brackets. Any kind of radiator reflectors fit between the brackets not around and are basically shoved down the gap as the cost of removing then replacing the radiators would negate any savings

    :) Good morning all!

I have had my nose in that book "Sucking eggs....." again last night and this morning and it is fascinating. Lots of stuff about energy economy as well as food, clothing, gardening, recycling, anything you can possibly imagine. If the sellers wonder why Amazon has had a mini-run on this title, we can call it the GQ effect.:o

Mr Pumpkin is still intact due to me being blinking knackered yesterday but I have plans to stalk him with a knife later today......cackles evilly.

gigervamp, I should have grown sage but it is planned for the Herb Bed, in an uncleared area of the lottie which is currently called The Rough, and looks like a cross between a rough meadow and the municipal dump. I have fond memories of other peoples' lotties with mature sage bushes ablaze with blue flowers and droning with literally hundreds of bees. That is my dream, along with a way of corralling mint which is better than it's current pot but doesn't let it ramble all over. One of the many things I have failed to do thus far....

ginnyknit pumpkins are lovely, aren't they, they're such comedy items. Shortly to be available all over and cheap(er) than chips. May you have one of your very own; Nan grew mine, I only grew Turk's Turbans and butternuts. I can still recall Cousin C and I taking one from Uncle D's garden down to the village church for harvest festival back when we were nippers. It was too big to carry so we wheeled it in a dolly pram.............raised a few eyebrows.

Well, after a gloriously sunny weekend it is now raining but I have hopes that it might clear out later. I have turned into my autumn dormouse mode and have been crashing into bed at about 9 pm this past week and resurfacing at about 6.30-7 am. It's great.;)

    Have a great Monday, y'all.

ETA, Oooh, Ceridwen, nearly forgot. On the Preparing for Winter thread, before I went off on hols (pre 02/09) someone was posting a description of how to use those car sunshades made of thin foam and silver foil to serve as radiator reflectors. Can't recall verbatim but it was basically cutting slits in the so that they slide over the rad supports and thus sit flush to the wall. HTH.

veggieblob - thanks so much for that link, going to check it out.
rachbc- you're absloutely right. bought 2 emergency blankets-for a pound in guess where? poundland. glued the edge to the stick. cut the foil to width and length and put behind radiator to rest on brackets. Just takes seconds.
Don't have any pictures but the third picture in link in rachbc's post gives a good idea of what it looks like.
charlies aunt - be gentle with yourself to-day.
    Away now to Lidl.

Goodness this thread moves fast - been away for the weekend and there are pages to read.

I had a lovely but not at all OS weekend - rented a big house in the country with a group of friends and our kids. Feel like I wll be on catch up all week with the chores (and sleep) but well worth it.

I have no ida what weather to dress/ prepare for now with predictions of a mini heatwave from one direction and storms from another....I might just take to my bed and hide from it all (yaawwwn)

  • So sorry to hear about puss, Charlies Aunt, but sometimes we keep our pets alive for our comfort rather than their own and you have to know when to let go. Doesn't make it any easier though, so big hugs to you.

westlothianlass - crikey, that was awful! I'm so glad you were both unharmed, that must have given you an awful fright though. Big hugs and hope your window is sorted soon. x

(((((Charlies Aunt))))), I'm so sorry for your loss, sending love and hugs your way. x
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!
