I moved from the east coast of England to a little mining village in Scotland and although not without its problems I count my blessings daily. I can afford my little house and have some truly great friends. Also have met my OH who still lives in Edinburgh (yes Mardatha another RV) and we get together at weekends).
Wow thats one helluver move girl.......I live on east coast of England in Suffolk and ive lived here all my life and love it,:D oh I dont think I could move out of here for cold Scotland, you must really miss the weather of Suffolk.?....ive travelled alot and been to a lot of countries, but theres nothing like home is there?.......
I know what you mean about property prices god its so expensive here to get somewhere to live, buts thats probaly because people want to live here, if we didnt get on the property ladder way back we definately wouldnt be on on it now.........................im glad your settled in your home ...as long as we are all happy in life thats the main thing......:D0 -

I know it may not be the same everywhere, but certainly in my area social services provide fabulous care involving up to six visits a day for medical care, personal care, preparation of meals, and shopping.
It certainly isn't the same everywhere. My elderly neighbour was left to cope alone and had to pay for private carers to help her dress and undress every day. Although the neighbours kept an eye on her she had three falls, each time breaking a different bone. Each time she was sent home from hospital still in pain. If it was just a question of finance, the charge for more help could have been offset against the value of her house, which she left to animal charities.0 -
Hulloo ladies. Just popping on to say Ginnyknit I have pm'd you.
And HB well done in court. I've had to go to court a couple of times to represent people (in my dim and distant CAB days) but I can still remember the knee-trembling fear ....
Was going to do some knitting but it's a lace pattern and I'm too tired to concentrate. Mind you, I suppose I could claim it's a 'freehand' lace pattern and pass off all the dropped stitches as intentional :rotfl:
Will just read instead or I might drop off to sleep and impale myself on a knitting needle.:rotfl:Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Yes there are many places online that give advice on growing your own, which I found whilst wandering the web, but they are all so laid back they don't post much :rotfl: Apparently its easy to grow like many herbs  Maybe you should give a rollup to your chickens Mardatha then they wouldn't bother about the rain, they would all be sat inside clucking gently away to each other , but they may break in your kitchen at 3 am looking for your sweeties

HJ I only came online this evening so missed your positive vibes request from this morning so sending belated ones with a big well done too.
Very OS tea tonight for me as it was our AGM and food was provided. Shame the chicken kebabs were raw .I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Gloom and doom - the BBC weather forecast for Monday 3 October 2011 to Sunday 16 October 2011
"Pressure rising...hopefully
High pressure is likely to be the dominant force in this period. However, our confidence is relatively low in this aspect and therefore quite low for other details.
If things do evolve in this way and high pressure dominates, then Atlantic fronts should be steered away from our shores and the weather should be much more settled. This sort of set-up could well lead to some cold and potentially frosty nights."
Taking senior cat to vets this morning - she is 16 years old with a very large inoperable cancerous tumour on her head for many months now - it has resisted all treatment and during yesterday something has happened and she has lost the use of one of her back legs. Feeling very sad but know I'm doing the kindest thing......:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

Came in here at teatime last night & read Kittie's post about lighting a candle - then the bloody lights went off and that was it until 2am.... so we sat and stared at candles for 4 hours then gave up and went to bed :rotfl::rotfl:0
