It was getting tough in 2006 and the workhouse still threatens us in 2011

We are in Fishguard - the old harbour, not the town up the hill. And I think it is often true that the grass is alwas greener, I know people who would give anything to be 12 mins from the centre of London!
But I thinks somewhere in my makeup I am called westward (not in recent times, I have traced my family tree back to the 1600's and up until mid 19c they lived within a very small area of Bedfordshire!) as we have always holiday'd in the SW or Wales. Crossing the bridge is like coming home...
Oh you're just up the road!!! We are just outside Cardigan. We spent holidays mainly in Pembrokeshire when the kids were tiny...First time came when we went home, I cried in the car'cos I didn't want to leave.
It was always 'the masterplan' to move here, but financially not attainable, until strangely enough it all started to go pear-shaped, when suddenly it became the logical, most sensible thing to do :j
Very happy with the move location wise and everything else, could do with being a bit less of a taxi for the kids though!

I know exactly what you mean Katie. I came to Wales from London via Maidstone (6 months) and Stoke on Trent (18 months).
When I was with my ex, we used to have breaks down here and were looking into moving here, but it never happened. Everytime I came back to Wales, I felt like I was home and hated going back to London.
But, I was obviously meant to be here as I later met a Welsh man who was living in Kent and circumstances lead to us moving to Stoke and then finally, here.
HJ, sending positive vibes.
Where abouts are you then GV? I haven't figured out how to do two people's quotes in one reply!

Wow, just logged in to find lots of pms and lovely messages on here so thank you Mardatha, Rachbc, Red Doe, Softstuff, Kimsmum, Mrs Chip, Nuala, WMF, greent and Gigervamp. :T:A You guys are the best.
Sorry to be cryptic this morning but I was in a bit of a state.
OH did work for a client 16 months ago and the b*gger refused to pay. I took him to court in June and he had the case dismissed on a stupid technicality so tried again in August when he didn't show. He then issued a defence ( which was laughable) but today didn't show again so the lovely Sherrif awarded in our favour so now he owes us the original some plus interest plus compensation . I was a brave little Haribo:D and stood up in court 3 times to deal with this so we don't have to pay lawyers fees as we won a case last year and the blighter still hasn't coughed up while we had to settle with the lawyer until he does.
So the vibes worked and I am very grateful that it is all over as it's a considerable sum of money and the worry and stress has been horrific.I am very angry that this stupid man put me through this but am ready to move on from it now. :j
Thanks again everyone.
re the incomer issue.... I am originally from Ireland though have lived in Scotland since I was 18. I love Ireland too (quick note that those of you wanting to move but stay in Britain... Ireland is not part of Britain:) ) and I met a man local to the area I live in now and we moved here to bring up our children when they came along. I have been welcomed with open arms and while I miss my family in Ireland terribly, I know I will never leave this wonderful place which has barely changed in the last century. :rotfl: of course there has been development and it's a good thing too as those developers provide lots of builders, tradespeople and consultants with jobs but we have strict planning laws here and all the buildings are sympathetic to the area. The view from my house looks over streets where the youngest house in mine and it was build in 1925. A new area is what you make it. Because we live in such a beautiful place, about a third of the population are first generation "incomers" who moved here for a better standard of living. Some fit in and some don't. The ones that don't are the ones who forget that this is a working town, not just a place conveniently set up to give them a better life. Those that come and work hard and integrate well will be accepted. Those who whinge and whine and try to change things simply won't.0 -
As they say over here "good on you!" HariboJunkie. I've found dealing with legal things myself to be less complicated than I imagined they'd be, once I got over my fear of it all. Glad it's worked out for you, and fingers are still crossed you get some money quick.
I have another darned migraine (might have to head to the docs as they're getting more frequent), but am still in a good mood because I'm sitting on our new sofa :j. That was the last of our things to do list. Last week I scrubbed, sanded, mould !!!!!! and re-varnished the outdoor chairs, and I'm pretty smug how they turned out, just as good as new but thanks to ebay I got the 4 for less than the price of 1 new.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

Your part of the world sounds lovely - I was bought up by the coast and miss the sea terribly - Yorkshire coast beckons me but not til ds has fled the nest (in fact once he's an architect me can build me a house by the sea!)People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
