There will always be people who have more than us and those who have less. It has been so for all time.

I try to make the best of what I have, make my home a happy place where all are welcome rich and poor, black and white.

I live within my means, that means I can sleep well at night, it doesn't mean I wouldn't like better or flashier or more. But peace in my mind and home is priceless.

Perhaps I should have re-phrased 'better off' with 'feeling happier with'?? if that makes sense :o

I am very happy in myself and very comfortable in my choices and feel no need to work on them; nor do I make comparisons or judgements.

jediteacher's post moved me to offer advice/information/comfort (?) to her, in a situation I had experience of. My comments were intended to be of use to her and I hope they have helped in some way. But I don't think I'll be doing so again.

    http://www.cloggs.co.uk/icat/menscrocs/

dh wears a pair of mens crocs (second down on right) and loves them

I have very wide feet unfortunately so cannot wear birkis as the side bit rubs badly on me, I had to give my wide birkis away

I don`t wear crocs without socks as I don`t like the rubber of bare foot feel but socks do vanish as the crocs cover them well

Jedi, you need to hold your head up re your home. Who cares about what assets people have, where I used to live it was all fur coats and no knuckers

I only buy genuine crocs not the cheapo copycat ones
I think these are about the cheapest around

  • Thank you everyone - got some sense knocked into me which was just what I needed and I have a strong resolve now to get on with clearing this house out and by the end of the month letting my little girl have a friend over. If I'm honest what was really bugging me was that all the other mums live close to one another and their children have known each other a long time and I just feel a little left out. But I'm a grown-up and will make the break through for the sake of my children. There are other complications in that I teach at the school and I understand that the parents are wary of me - I do have a rep as being tough as nails and will take no nonsense.

Anyway, thank you everyone for the advice and the green eyed monster has now subsided.

Today I'm off to do more mystery shopping to help with paying off the debts and I've been readuing flyladies blog which has really inspired me and will be pinching a few ideas from there.

Right off to the school run and again many thanks everyone on here and I'm sorry if I raised anyones heckles and made the thread go off topic.

Ooh Shegar! I'm just (hopefully, fingers & toes crossed, throws salt over left shoulder) coming to the end of mine! 6 months, stretching 'Step' exercises, heel inserts & a few paracetomol only.

First 6 weeks or so was agony, couldn't bear to put heel down at all without the Crocs on - & I still have to use them (well - 1 actually! :rotfl:) for the middle of the night wee  & when I first get up (2 at that point!). By the time I'm coffee'd up & out the shower it's eased off enough :T to go barefoot again, although I do put the inserts in my shoes for work (most days!).

It eases a lot as the day goes on so long as you keep moving, middle of the night is worst. :(

Get stretching & hope it eases off soon.

    A
    xx

Sounds exactly like me, but mine dont ease as the day goes on, it get worse cos ive been on them too much............I definately cant go bare foot everything underfoot is much too hard, im definately going to get more rest, cos im pretty scared of it getting worse, like madarthers son, thats not good poor man...............mind you if he wears crocs he too can get some form of relief......................

Edinburgh then kittie was it ? :rotfl::rotfl:That's what we say about them- all fur coat and nae knickers.
Jedi, it's not important what kind of house you live in as long as it is full of love and high moral standards. Be careful you don't teach your kids to be snob unintentionally pet. I'd try to teach them that it doesnt matter a bit what the house is like, its just a place to keep the weather off you.
Thanks for links to crocs will go and look now.;)

Ive been having some real serious pain in my feet/heels, for the past 3 weeks I keep thinking that if I ignore it it will go away cos im always ill and get get up with it ...... but when I needed a wee in the night I have to slip my feet into my crocs because they seem to cushion my feet, so I made an appointment and went to see the Dr he examined my feet and said I have planta fasciitis:eek: sounds painful and it is, he gave me some excercises to do and some ointment to rub in and told me I must rest them as much as possible, I told him the only shoes I can wqear is crocs and he said they and trainers are the best for this condition because they are cushioned and shape your arch.............its a thing that a lot of woman get between the age of 40 to 60 yrs old, my mother had it real bad for a yr a long time back.....if its not better in 12 weeks he wants t o inject cortisone:eek::eek:god im gonna do those excercises 3 times a day and try my best to get them back to normal........................so tonight ive got my feet up.................

Take it seriously...I suffered for ages, limping about, before I fiinally went to the GP and got referred to the hospital. The cortisone injections sound worse than they are...for me the relief was almost instant! It's not something that 'goes away' though, you will need to carry on wearing suitable footwear for ever...so if you've got high heels I'm afraid you'll have to kiss them goodbye!

I can wear Birkies now in the summer which is bliss, because at it's worst I could only wear a pair of boots laced up tight, with a supportive insole too. I mainly wear Merryl walking shoes or something similar (not cheap - but I can usually pick them up in sales in Millets, but have on occassions turned a blind eye to the trim colours!) Nothing but a proper shock absorbant sole is any use...I have to press the heel area of all 'new' shoes with my thumbs, I can tell now if something will be any good. Nike Air were good, but I found that the cushion effect didn't last long for the price. If you are mainly wearing one pair of shoes, and you find you feet are aching again, it will probably be because the 'cushion' has gone! New Shoes time...

Do not underestimate how much a nice thick cushiony pair of socks help either...all extra padding. Keep your laces done up tightly for support.

Had a look and they look good, I like them. The Barista new work shoe looks ok for him, have texted him to see if he'd be allowed to wear them. He runs a security team in a big complex in Edinburgh and works 12 hour shifts. Thanks for this - things are quite desperate with him as his boss loves him and his team love him and they've all waited patiently since Nov for him to come back. He went back this week and is in agony. If he had to pack it in then the dole will give him sitting down jobs - and he's dyslexic as hell and can't do a desk job. Ahhh the worries - you think once they grow up things will be ok and you'll stop worrying? lol - THINK AGAIN!
