GQ, this dual purpose sauce may come in useful for your camping expedition. The container should perhaps have a message saying 'warning, may cause wind'?

Evening all
Have just come back from the lottie with spring onions, chard, beans, about 21/2lb of blackberries and two globe artichokes (a first for me). Just need to sort out the beans and blanch and check out how to prepare the artichoke.
Came home from work last night to find my neighbour who was going sea fishing had dropped off a fresh sea bream just short of 3lb in weitght so I also need to prepare and freeze that. Will be sending chutney around as a thankyou.
Managed an extra 13 hr shift yesterday and a 7 hour one today so feeling pretty bushed but will have forgotten that by the time pay day comes around. OH wants a family day out tomorrow so looking forward to that but it means I need to get all of this fresh produce prepped and frozen today (including two woopsie hams I have had soaking). Do not think the longed for early night is on the cards. Might just squeeze in a power nap whilst he is making tea.
Hope you all enjoy the extra day off tomorrow. Mrs VPI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Frugal - nothing more than to say than I'm thinking of you.
Well I'm glad I bought the oven thermometer - I've found it takes almost 30 minutes for my useless Hotpoint to get the the set temperature and then it bypasses it between 15 and 20 degrees. No wonder I was having problems. My previous Stoves oven may have been 14 years old but it worked like a dream until it's final month.
Made a dozen scones, key lime pie and sour cream and blueberry loaf today. There would also have been meringues from the egg whites left over from the key lime pie but I had poured the lime juice in the egg whites before it dawned it should have been the yolks. Absolutely mad with myself as it was a waste of 4 egg whites and key lime juice. If it hadn't been for my sheer bl**dy stupidity there would have been enough lime juice for another pie in a month or so. Now we will have to wait until January when I can pick up some more. Sometimes I think I need a damn good slap to waken me up and sometimes I worry that I'm losing it when I get basic things wrong and cause waste.
I have a funeral to attend tomorrow, close family friend who died of a brain tumour. I'm really not looking forward to that, my mum spent a lot of time with her over the years, especially latterly and I think it will be horrendous all round. It's in the afternoon so all morning to think about it too. I feel a serious run coming on to keep me occupied. It may also shift some of my lardy a** too - that would be a bonus!
I know I'm overweight but take exception to my GP who told me on Friday that I should be between seven and a half stone and seven stone twelve. I'm eleven stone so that makes me three and a half stone overweight (or according to her, obese). at 5ft 4 I've never been that weight in my life, was eight and a half once and looked ill. You could have impaled yourself on my collar boneo I was so thin. Wretched woman doesn't have a clue but the problem is she would only give me 3 months contraceptive pills instead of 6 and told me to come back in 3 months when she expects me to have lost at least the first stone. The fact that I'm fitter than I was 20 years ago and my blood pressure is spot on doesn't cut it - her exact words were "your fitness level is of no interest to me, you fatness level is what I'm aiming to sort out".
I had a Thompson and Morgan catalogue arrive in the post yesterday - I'm off to drool over it, especially the blue tulips on the cover.I don't need any more plants though - keep repeating that and I'll be fine:D0 -

GQ - don't come anywhere near London if you've eaten this. We don't need gales as well as rain:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500 -
Evening all,
Scottishminnie - I hope everything goes ok tomorrow afternoon.
After a day spent de-cluttering we've just had a lovely Sunday dinner of roast chicken with veggie from the garden followed by microwaved syrup sponge pudding. As my OH's friend would say "Carry me, but don't bend me":rotfl:0 -

Utter rubbish! I had a look at a bmi calculator out of curiosity (http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmicalc.htm) and your current bmi is 26.4. (normal is upto 24.9 so you're not that far off). The heaviest 'normal weight' for your height comes in at around 145 lbs which is something like 10 stone 3lbs. If you went down to seven stone twelve you would be underweight. So not only is your doctor rude, she is wrong to boot! Perhaps you could take one of those weight graphs with you next time you go and point out the error of her ways. :mad:Aspire not to have more but to be more.
