Anybody remember Seasalt? Would love to know how she is but not heard from her in ages...
Seasalt, if you are reading, please send me a PM or post0 -
He's not her carer, he's not even officially there. She hasnt got anybody as a carer. She is ok to potter around and do the housework, go to the shops, but needs help with carrying bags and needs time to get up the stairs. But if she catches a cold then she's totally flattened. Two years ago she had a massive heart attack out of the blue and arrested twice, was in ICU for a week. Then last year she had a collapsed lung and many chest infections. So she's more or less scared to do a lot now.
Last month her ESA was cut as they found her "fit to work" at the medical . She's appealing.
Well he has been on DLA last 2 yrs high on care and motobility , which he definately is entitled too, well we had a letter the other day saying that they want him to go to a work focused interview...!!!..
You cant make it up can you....... of all the Drs letters, physio reports, surgeons report, confirm just how ill he is yet they want him off incapacity benefit and him to get a job, theres hardly any jobs about for young qaulified people how on earth is he suppose to work,he couldnt hold down a job for a couple hours per day let alone 40 hour week, god whats its all coming to........I totally agree with getting a lot of people off the dole and back to work, but surely people that are disabled like he is shouldnt have to have this kind of extra worry..........
When his DLA ran out after 2 yrs we filled the forms in and they knocked his level down yet he hadnt improved in that 2 yr period, I asked would they reconsider and I put the reasons down why he needs high level, within 2 wks ahis money went back up.......and so it should.....I know some people are taking the p..s with getting disability related benefits to which they are not entitled to but they shouldnt tar us all.................
I really do worry about the future over extra living costs that we will all face ..fuel for the car, fuel for the home, rising food costs, where will it all end.?........At least on this thread everyone helps each other and thats comforting to know, theres never a problem on here that cant be sorted by all you loyal OS ers ..........we will get through these severe hard times we are here for each other. God bless you all......:)0 -
Thanks for asking Ceridwen... My Dad passed away a couple of weeks ago
:(:( I was with him until he fell asleep and he passed away a few hours after I went home :A
I've been struggling to keep it together but reading the OS boards is helping to take my mind off things
Fru xx
So sorry frugal to hear of your loss, hugs go out to you..xx0 -
Frugal I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, my thoughts are with you. I hope you can take some comfort from the fact that you were with him til he fell asleep.
Today's naan breads from the kenwood chef were a great success. We had them with Softstuff's chickpea curry and it was yummy. I'm so stuffed I can hardly move:p
We've sorted a whole load of stuff for the CS mainly old crockery and a huge number of slightly dodgy vases. The towel rail has yet to make it onto the wall though.........0 -
So sorry to hear of your sons gf illness, how sad for someone so young......hugs to all of you that need them, seem to be a lot of people with life threatning illnesses.........talking of the DWP, as you know my poor hubby had massive stroke at 49 yrs old, 3 ys ago this week, its left him left side hemiplegia, partially sighted, terrible epilepsey, wheelchair user, memory loss, cared for 24/7.now fitted with titanium plate where they took away top of his skull the size of your palm..........

JFC (pm me if you can't work out the expletives) that is just disgraceful... I am APPALLED by their treatment of you and dh *shakes head in absolute disbelief*...
As you say, we all help one another on this thread and thank goodness for everyone here xxxx0 -
Frugal -thinking of you. I have a strong belief that sometimes our closest can't 'leave' until we have left the room/ gone home. Keep on keeping on and things will get more easy to deal with.

Hi everyone.......just wanted to say I live in the North East of Scotland and the last two winters were very bad, I noticed each bad winter the trees were hanging very heavy with red berries but this year they are not too bad........might mean a milder one.:)
Might mean the birds are already hungry

((Frugal)) my sympathies! While you take a small measure of comfort from the OS board, do take one step at a time; sometimes, a day at a time, other time, a moment at a time. It's a toughie, but you will learn to cope; promise x0

Morning everyone :hello:
Frugal I am so sorry for your loss. xx
Red Doe, I hope things look brighter today and you can make contact with someone who can really help on Monday morning.
GQ, enjoy the weekend at your parents. The highland cows here bask on our local beach and even enjoy a paddle.I am with you about the Hebrides although I prefer the inner ones as they're not quite as windswept but just as stunning (and they're closer to me
). If you ever head north again you must pop in for a visit.
Mardatha, I know what the Glasgow woman means!! The last storm we had in May hit us with winds over 100mph but I suppose it was a very small area compared to that affected by the US. And we had NO warning of that whatsoever. My heart does go out to all those affected by the US hurricane.
Yesterday was spent making inroads into our preparations for winterising this old house. Gable walls were painted, leaks attended to and logs chopped (all by OH I might add, not me
) I just cleaned and organised the kitchen. No chutney was made in the end but is on the cards for this morning instead.
It is 9 degrees and windy here just now but I think we still plan to go foraging this afternoon. We'll take a big basket each and a flask of something warm. Our friends are coming too as they haven't been to this wood before but I'm sure there is plenty to go around. It will mostly be fungi as it's too early for ripe berries here.
Then home for slow roasted pork a la Jamie Oliver  with spuds, broad beans, carrot and parsnip (all home grown)
I am determined to cram alot into today as this coming week may be tough enough for a number of reasons.:(0
