Sorry i'm with m and s on this one.0

Yeah snap. Eurgh. While your husband might have nice feet (if they exist) m&s don't know that, and neither do we, so it's a pretty horrible thought!0

Why would anyone need to try a pair of socks on to see if they fit, they are pretty wide ranging in their sizes.
ie 4-7, 7 to 10 etc.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Underwear policy applies the same, except where they have those plastic protectors in place, and even then they can be refused at discretion of the store.
unless it is faulty they, and every other store in the uk have no obligation at all to refund or replace, it is their good will.
Statutory rights work both ways. unless there is a policy clearly stating no questions asked exchange or return, you havent a leg to stand on.
Surely you knew what size socks he wears so why try them on, especially as he already didnt like them ?
Depends on the signage they have displayed. If a company's sign says you have 28 days to exchange an item then that sign forms part of the contract and becomes legally binding. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
I'd be far more concerned about the missing sock.DTD...Dreading The Detox.0

Quite right too!!! I wouldn't want to buy a pack of socks someone else had tried on even if they didn't have a fungal infection, verruca, warts, scabby feet etc - if you know your foot size you shouldn't need to try them on anyway.
But, I have found in the past that M&S customer service isn't all that good - I had a a complaint about a pack of sludgy, gritty poultry gravy and was told that it musy have been my tastebuds that were at fualt - oh yeah becuase people regulalry like to crunch on grit while they eat their sunday roast;)0 -
It's not ridiculous. Socks can pick up all sorts of infections and why the need to try them on? They come in standard sizes- womens are 4-7 and mens 7-11 usually.0

Should have put them on eBay as "well-worn" and been quids in!0

Well, thank you all for your views on this matter.
Whitelabel said that she agreed with the policy, so did many others.
But my point was, the style of the sock was not visable in the packaging, it wasn't untill the sock was taken out that you could see the design, which was plain on the underside of the sock, but on the top part of the sock it was mesh effect, that my hubby did not like, he said they looked too much like Fish Net Stockings! This was not visable on the packaging as they were tightly packed in a band of 7pairs!!
Also their underwear do not have the sticky label in the gusset of the pants, so where's the hygeine in that?????
Plus as someone else pointed out.... Didn't he know what size sock he needed before I BOUGHT THEM FOR HIM!!!
Yes of course i know what size sock he takes normally. But as he is a size 14 he has a very high instep, and sometimes the sock is cut on the narrow size, so i wanted to make sure they would be wide enough for him.
And these people that have posted (yuk) they wouldn't want to have someone's pre-tried on socks. But your quite happy to buy shoes, or underwear that have been on some scanky body???
I think that most of you must be employed by Marks and Spencer's to post such biast replies.
But,,, your all entitled to your views i guess?
Marks and Spencer is not the store that it once was, and the customer service has gone down the pan too.
And that is not a comment because of the sock issue. It's a fact!0
