DSG boxes are reported to have a frightening habit of cutting out for a second or two at just the wrong moment - like when you are joining a roundabout.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

My little Audi has a sport setting as well but I tend not to use it as it's like a little pocket rocket in standard mode.

Many thanks, so are we thinking that Mercedes and BMW have the traditional (non mmt etc) gearbox fitted? As a single woman, the car salesmen will say anything to get a sale, so I'd rather go armed with the correct information.

Another consideration with the BMW's is that you don't get a spare wheel. The tyres are run flat ones and most tyre places won't repair them for insurance purposes. So a small puncture could end up costing you the price of an expensive run flat tyre. My OH was considering a BMW but this put him off. Also our Mercedes and and our neighbours BMW are absolutely rubbish in the winter because they're rear wheel drive. I had to use my dad's 11yo Astra last winter - it was like a little plough. Our one was just embarrassing.

a set of winter tyres on steel wheels would sort that
I ran my RWD Omega last winter with little issue
in fact I was late switching over from my summer tyres but still got by in the snow

Thanks. Whatever you may or may not think of me, I would rather come here for the correct information, rather than trust a salesman.
