Dry cleaning who is in the wrong ?

Morning , When handing in the coat I asked the girl will these be removed her reply was "yes they will all be gone" so I left the coat there to be cleaned. When getting to the car I realised they never checked the pockets so I went back into the shop to check it . The woman I spoke to yesterday took the jacket out of the bag so I could check the pockets and she never said anything about the pet hairs. Yesterday her argument was that I apparently signed a piece of paper stating that the hairs would not be removed completely from the jacket. I have no idea what she is talking about as I didn't sign anything or see any note in the shop. I asked her where this note is and she changed her reply from "you signed it when you handed it in " When I asked to see a copy of this note with or without my signature on it her reply then changed to " its hanging by the machines in the back for the staff " . I was due to collect the jacket on Monday but collected it on Thursday so it was there a few days extra.
Its not exactly stains on the jacket just normal wear and tear on it nothing that a damp cloth could not get out of it. Also when handing it in three staff was present not one of them said about the pet hairs. It was me who asked will they be removed from the coat.0 -
Surely you should be worried about the stains they haven't removed more than the dog hair?
Something doesn't quite add up here..
I dont know what you mean that something does not add up here. The jacket had normal wear and tear stains on it eg spilt milk from my son Nothing a damp cloth could get rid of. All them marks are still on my coat + plus the pet hair. That I was told will be removed when I handed it in. if I was told when handing it in that there was a chance they will remain I would not have gone back there with a cause for complaint.0 -
Did you expect (ie presume) the coat to be free from dog hair since they never told you otherwise as per your original post? Or did the explicitly tell you it would be free from dog hair as per your above post?
Maybe i'm being overly sceptical, but the story seems to have changed somwhat............0 -
If you specifically asked them to remove the dog hair and they agreed, then they haven't done their job.
If they're now saying that dry cleaning doesn't remove dog hair, then they have mis-sold you their service.
I'd write them a letter and ask for a refund.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Not really sure why you took it to a dry cleaners then...? Knowing that dry cleaning won't remove pet hairs is kind of one of those things you just pick up in life - like knowing that diving into 2 foot water isn't a good idea.
I'm not really sure what you wanted from your dry cleaning experience and I'd perhaps go as far to suggest that dry cleaning was inappropriate in this instance, hence the shop could never have fulfilled your needs.
Could you not just chalk this one up to experience and move on?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

My experience of dry cleaners is that they're very keen to make sure you understand their limitations and precisely what might go wrong before you hand over your garment and/or cash. There's a fair bit of scope for misunderstanding about whether *these* stains can be removed or whether *this* item might shrink that they're careful to let you know in advance.
I'm not sure how there could have been confusion as to whether pet hairs would be removed or not - they examine the garment closely beforehand then tell you what's a likely result. That's my experience anyway. Perhaps the one the OP went to is a bit rubbish."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

The story has not changed at all I just didnt input the conversation I had with the shop assistant when handing it in that I asked her will the pet hairs be removed and I was told yes. So collecting the jacket I assumed they were all gone.0 -
