Alternatives to ebay (like selling on hotukdeals)

I often prefer to sell things on hotukdeals because there are no fees and payment can be made via PPG.

Are there any sites/forum are similar. Why isn't there an MSE sell/buy forum? I suppose seller/buyer reputation would need to be created somehow.

because BST (buy/sell/trade) sections on forums can be a moderation nightmare

its called experience of moderating those very sections
you can plaster the section with rules but there will always be issues with sales
but if you want to follow me around to fill your days then feel free

You can't even use capital letters so I don't know why you are a moderator. There would be more joy than issues with no ebay fees and paypal fees. I assume this site can track IP addresses, do that and threat any con artists that their IP will be tracked. On the avforums, it is very easy to sell and buy and I save a lot of money in ebay fees and paypal fees.

because they have no interest in the hassle
there are many forums and they do many things differently
jump on site ideas and see the idea has been broached before
MSE is run differently to most forums

If two forums can do it successfully, why cant MSE?

Why on earth would MSE want to be a selling platform? This is a website designed for consumer issues, not with selling.

If I want to talk about ebay, or get advice on bank accounts or consumer issues i come to MSE but if I want to sell something I go to ebay. I prefer sites to be clear about what they are rather than try and be too much and do none of it properly.

Also whilst MSE is a pretty huge site it doesn't have the exposure , especially international that ebay does..so why would I want to sell here?

I am very happy with the Status Quo.

You will notice this is an unmoderated site. To set up a trading site MSE would have to employ dedicated staff at all associated costs so would have to start charging anyway to host trades.

If you sell an item on ebay for £100, you get around £85. Wouldn't it be nice to get the full £100?

It has everything to do with this site - money saving. The competitions board is very busy and that has nothing to do with consumer issues.

MSE has more members than hotukdeals and avforums, which 9/10 times the item will sell on there. I will volunteer to be a moderator, 99.9% of people are genuine and no one wants to pay ebay fees.

I would prefer 85% if somehting rather than 100% of nothing. I sell well on ebay and prefer to use a professionally hosted sales platform rather thna tag my sales on to a site that is mainly concerned with other things

There are other selling platforms out there that charge less fees than ebay but they have no buyers.
