I would prefer 85% if somehting rather than 100% of nothing. I sell well on ebay and prefer to use a professionally hosted sales platform rather thna tag my sales on to a site that is mainly concerned with other things
There are other selling platforms out there that charge less fees than ebay but they have no buyers.
100% of the whole thing > all.
15% fees are a joke that could be avoided if an adverts forum was set up here. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
look IT JUST DOESN'T ok. might be nice if it did (though I don't actually think so), they might make a fortune - but THEY JUST DON'T DO IT. so please don't spam us all with WIBNI arguments
if you really want to set up a site with no fees go create one yourself - then custardy can come and waste your time asking why it doesn't offer moneysaving adviceI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

You'd still need to police it and end up employing people, which would have costs which would need to be recouped. Ebay do actually empty people, spend money on their site, have offices, etc, etc, smaller companies have lower overheads and lower charges. Ebay won't be the most cost effective place for people to sell stuff some or all of the time, but it will be in a large percentage of cases.berbastrike wrote: »100% of the whole thing > all.

Apart from that having a selling platform on here is a stupid idea, it is an advice site, as soon as you introduce an element like selling it would have a detrimental effect on the advice part..0 -

I don't want an amateur site though where I can sell the occasional unwanted mobile phone, I want a selling site where I can run a proper business with professional listings, international exposure and payment methods and invoicing that mean s a buyer can pay while I am out and without having to wait for me to set up payment.
If you are selling a few bits and pieces and don't want to pay ebay fees then use local free ads. It is not compulsory to sell on ebay, I'm sure there are millions that manage very well without an ebay selling account.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You don't want it because you have a business. Ok, I understand, but there are many of us who are not businesses and hate the ebay fees. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
So in your world I have an item for sale. I either put it on a forum which the chances are one man and his dog might see and I could sell it for £100.berbastrike wrote: »100% of the whole thing > all.

Or alternatively I pay some fees put it on ebay with a Global audience and huge customer base who have confidence in the platform. Sell it for £200 and pay £17 in fees. Its a no brainer i'd rather pay the fees. No I don't get 100% of the money but I get far more money. Sometimes free doesnt mean better.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'
