a drop in the ocean vs eBay
anyway, you have yet to answer my question on what the forum does with these logged IP addresses

Provide them to the police. Look at the avforums. 3 million sales and only 100 problems (most of which have been resolved).

If it's that easy. I'm surprised you haven't set up your own auction site.

so you go to the police and hand over an IP address
    then what happens?
are you privy to all that happens on AV forums? or just the public threads?

If there is just the threat that IP addresses will be given out, it will stop some fraudsters. And also, if you are sending the item to an address, you have the person's address.

In fact, I would say there is higher chance of being conned on ebay since there are fraudsters worldwide ie Nigeria on there.

so what you're saying is you have no protection for buyers?
just a "threat" an IP address will be given out to someone?
so what would the police do with that IP address?
its a simple question given you are holding IP addresses as a system of protection.

as for eBay protection. its far higher than any forum
