Unusual Pets?

I don't have a menagerie, just my two cats, which are enough for me! OH also has an african grey which he rescued a couple of years ago. It's been a slow process and he (the parrot!) still doesn't talk or come out of his cage, but at least he now sings, dances on his perch, can be hand fed and lets OH stroke him.
In the past we have also had ferrets, russian hamsters - including a roborovski - and a 'seaside' fishtank, which had a prawn (Marilyn), a shrimp (Sidney), crabs (Vulcan and Sebastian), starfish and hermit crabs.:wave:A highly active brain needs feeding often

Nothing interesting here (apart from rats, which I don't consider unusual). But I've always wanted a ferret and a lizard!:www: Saving for a deposit - Target £30k by 24/03/14 (30th Birthday!) :www:

I have quite a few pets but I think that my degus are the most unusual.

Here are some photos of some of the others
Burtram - Syrian hamster
Poppy - Dwarf hamster
Racheal and Kyriah - Giant African Land Snails. They do have more things for there home, just not in this photo.
We also have more hamsters, 2 gerbils, 3 cocketeils and 3 zebra finches.

awwww..........how cute is that hedgehog????????????

I'm another fan of rats - sadly I became allergic to them
so now have bunnies and a hamster.
I've got an unusual dog if that counts??
Holly's a cross between a cream male chihuahua and a black female labrador.
Have u got any pictures of your dog? How did that breeding happen lol must have been an unusual sight! Is she as big as a labrador? xx0 -
we used to have bearded dragons and if space allowed id love a pair again. Gerri and baby david (yes after the royal family) were amazing. I think bearded are quite popular now as they have come down in price and getting food nowadays is nowhere near as hard as it was back then.Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
I've never had unusual pets unless you call a tortoise unusual. Speedy was my dad's and nobody really knows how old he is but my dad had him as a kid (dear old dad now passed) but dad would have been 89 this year.
Anyway, I have a friend who has polecats and lots of them. Have to say, they are quite smelly but very sweet.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

I do love my snakes, I know it's hard to imagine, but I do.
Currently trying to talk hubby round yet again, as I've seen another I thought would make a nice addition to the family. They are so addictive.0 -
I love snakes - beautiful creatures! my dd had a burmese python called george. he used to sit on my lap when I visited and curl up but slide his head down my leg til it rested on my foot and then I would swing him gently. he grew to 5 foot and when I visited DD would see me and try to get out of his tank! he escaped one night and DD and family all slept together in a double bed! he was large enough to do damage to the kids! DD re-located him to a snake enthusiast as soon as they found him (next day - curled up in GS bed) - wish she had told me - I would have had him! I liked that snake - he didnt pee on me like her smaller corn snakes did!0

Awww, I saw some degus the other day while hamster shopping (they look very fast!). I'd forgotten about them til now so need to add to my list - I want a ferret, a lizard, and some degus
Your hamsters are very cute. Not sure I could say the same about the snails! My friend's brother had snails growing up, his room absolutely stank! (Although that could have been teenage boy smell and not the snails, I was never sure):www: Saving for a deposit - Target £30k by 24/03/14 (30th Birthday!) :www:
