Unusual Pets?

I used to have 2 mice that people found quite weird.
Although I loved having them, I won't get any more because they only live about a year before dying from tumours.0 -
I would love Geckos, but .... OH thinks we are becoming the crazy pet people, since plans are underfoot to acquire a dog [Border Terrier], another hedgehog [Female], possibly marine fish, and the list goes on. Anyway, here is:
Dexter, our pygmy hedgehog:
Karate chopping his way out of a ball ... wax on .... wax off:
And here is Agent Booth, our steppe lemming:
And having a munch:

Aww, loving your pic's, love your lemming how adorable is he/she:o
We have a selection of fish here too, we have Orfs, Koi, etc in the pond outside, Tropical, Marine and Goldfish tanks for the children to enjoy - I do love my marine tanks though, they are gorgeous:)
Border terriers are fabulous little dogs, good luck with him/her

Again I've kept mice for the children, only having them for a year (or if we were lucky, just over a year) was a big problem here as my children were heartbroken when they lost theirs - I found them to be not so handleable as Rats but some of the fancy mice which we kept we're adorable
Always a sad day here when we loose a pet as each and every one of them is a massive part of our family, even the snakes as hard as that is for most people to understand. They may not love me
and I don't get any loyalty from them, I love them all tenfold and I do get lots of pleasure from keeping them as pets
Ours is a hectic house, always something to do here so at least we never get bored, either the dogs need walking, snakes need misting (certain species), feeding, vivs need cleaning, guinea pigs to feed/clean out etc I always seem to be doing something which revolves around our pets
Keeps the children entertained for hours too having so many

Very easy once you get the temperatures right. Live feeding is more of an American thing, so you just buy frozen rodents and defrost before feeding.0

My snakes are only a risk to small animals if I have left them a way of escape. I don't. After each water change and handling session etc they are returned to their vivariums and their vivariums are locked mainly because I do have young children who are inquisitive and do love handling them, I'd never forgive myself if one happened to escape so I am overly cautious in that department, which isn't such a bad thing.
Some species of snake are relatively easy to look after and care for some species of Boa and Python aren't a beginner snake.
Best species I were advised to start out with were
Milk & King Snakes
Corn Snakes
Royal Pythons
Snakes aren't best kept as pets if you don't like the thought of feeding pre killed feeds.0 -
Am thinking about getting some reps or new fish, seeing as my malawi tank, had a massive heater/filter failure two weeks ago. Came home from a work trip to find 2oo quids worth of fish soup.
Very sad as 3 species were breeding frequently.0 -

We have a bit of a menagerie, 4 dogs, a cat, 4 rabbits, a hamster, and 2 gerbils, but I suppose the most 'unusual' is our African Grey parrot 'Skye', who basically rules the house, the dogs and cat are scared of him when hes out and about xx:D0
