    I'm male.

As likely to be flamed for saying this as I am, I have never found a woman with short hair attractive.

You're just being honest. My OH feels the same way.

I've had shortish hair before (a short bob), and I did like it, but I prefer my hair long. I do seem to get more attention from guys now that I have long hair. OH has seen the pics of me with shorter hair and said he prefers how it is now.

Never been brave enough to have a crop. I think it can look fantastic, but can also be a disaster. It is a lot of upkeep too, so I'm sticking to the long hair.

I think you have to have a certain kind of face to be able to pull it off - people like Keira Knightley and Victoria Beckham with the high cheekbone look can really suit it. I don't think Vanessa looks that good with it.

I am actually going through this dilemma at the moment. I haven't had very short hair in over 20 years and my husband really wants me to get my hair cut (he has never seen it shorter than a chin length bob). I sort of would like it short too as it suited me when I was younger but now I am in my 40's my face isn't as youthful as it was ;) and I think that a short cut would just emphasise this. I also don't have great bone structure so would feel totally exposed with a short cut whereas longer hair (choppy chin/shoulder length bob) now makes me feel feminine.

I personally don't like it and I think there are very very very very few women who can pull it off (Halle Berry and Winona Ryder type etc)

The common factor being that they are both incredibly gorgeous! The rest of us would have to wear a serious amount of make-up to even half compensate...maybe that explains VB :D

He's probably seen someone he liked with short hair and wants you to look the same.
This is a normal male reaction and they never learn, they always think that if they buy that basque, you are suddenly going to look like the model showing it off.
Obviously this isn't true and often men are very disappointed when they discover it (yet again!).

How about pinning your hair up and seeing how you both feel about it?

Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing (on earth), can possibly explain that train wreck....

This is me. I've had it long, short and somewhere in between before now and short suits me best.

I think Judi Dench looks fab with her short hair. I'm getting on a bit with white/grey hair & wear mine short. If I leave it to grow I look more like Pearl off the shreddies advert! I guess I don't worry so much about what other folk think - it makes me feel fresher & a little bit more chic.

I love short hair, not just on myself but on other women too. I think unless your hair is very thick and possibly curly or wavy it just does not look good long.

I had long hair until I was about 17 and then had a bob for a few years. Have had short hair for about the last 30 years and it is very short now.

My OH doesn't mind how I have my hair - he loves me for me not what my hair looks like and he doesn't particularly find long hair attractive on women either.

  • Different styles suit different people. I tried short hair once but my face is too big for a short style so now I keep it long. Try one of those online sites which allows you to upload your photo then try out different styles. Or just take the plunge and go for it. It'll grow back if you don't like it. :)
