    Hi John
Well done ! Failed last two days. New attempt today.
Routine changing as of today, stop the little triggers. Little things like less tea, no alcohol. Keep busy, get more done.

Pounds and Pensive/ Frugal Jo keep sticking at it - do you smoke outside - that makes you think twice, I must admit I am now used to watching TV, being on the PC without a ciggie. It is just stopping that doorstep routine that I worry about. Even at work I have to go outside and there is no shelter at either place. BUT I have still gone outside in the freezing cold/rain/snow to satisfy myself.
John keep it up I will definately join you all on Monday I have got my plan and am now reading Allen Carr again.
    WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!!

What motivated me, and was the sign post that it was the right time for me to give up was that one week I happened to smoke a quarter of the amount I normally smoke. I think you need to know in yourself when its the 'right' time. My kids had been getting at me for a few years to quit, and I told them I would quit smoking when I was ready to. I knew that if I tried when I wasn't ready then I would fail. In my first week I had 8 cigs, then never had anymore after that, so from December I have never had a cig, even though alot of people I know smoke.

Kett - I don't smoke 'in' the house, we have what we call a utility room, (junk mostly lol) with a back door so that's where I carry out the dirty little habit. I don't enjoy it at all.

Penny2myName - I know what you mean - like a lightbulb moment. There comes a point when it just doesn't make sense.

    How's everyone doing?

FrugalJo - did you get through yesterday?
Kettricken - Well done for setting a date.
Pounds_And_Pensive - You can definitely do this.

I've now gone 2 days 16 hours and 48mins ! That means I'm nearly over the nicotine withdrawl stage and it's simply a pyschological battle then.

My saying at the moment is "There is no benefit from having a cigarette"

Good Luck Everyone and keep posting.

    Hi John
Nope ! seem to be weaning myself off though. One or two a day at the moment, better than 15 - 20. Your progress is inspiring me though.

Makingendsmeet - yes I tried Allen Carr last year and sailed through it. Made so much sense. Good luck with it, although I don't think it's about luck or will power I think it's a state of mind.

    Hi all
I went back to work today and those trigger moments are still there, how I will cope on Monday I do not know. The nurse has also given me some microtabs for extra stressful moments as well as the patches. I will try "the maybe in another 5 minutes routine" as well.

makingendsmeet I also read Allen Carr it makes a lot of sense but you still have really got to want do it.

Frugal Jo my sister has tried patches and kept off for a while and then a hypnotist and kept off for a while but is smoking again. Keep on in there. Don't creep back up from the few you have.

John brilliant - do you still want one though? How do you cope when you do?

PoundsandPensive are you still with us?? How are youdoing

I have just had the best one of the day - daughter has just gone to sleep and I have tidied up and now it is "me" time. So the reward is ...
I must admit I have gone back to smoking B & H (did swap to Mayfair) for my last few days.
    good luck everyone

Hi I'd like to join in, as I've just come back from the local stop smoking clinic. I've got a prescription for Zyban which I'm going to start on Saturday. I have to go back to the clinic for the next 5 Thursdays so they can monitor my progress. I've been smoking on and off for over 30 years! I've tried everything including Allen Carr's book which is very good and I did stop for quite a while after reading it, but I've decided I need more help, and so am giving Zyban a try. I'll keep you posted.

You are sounding well prepared, that's brilliant. Just five minutes is working for me in the day, it's that late evening, that 'me' time that gets me too. Rewarding myself.

Hi Moxie, welcome ! Carr did it for me too to begin with. So you're actually stopping on Saturday ?

I bought 10 on Sunday, which was silly as I was intent on stopping Sunday night. I have 2 left, that's it. The children break up for Easter so I may as well do it while routine is changed. Plus my 10 year old is so mad at me for starting again, like role reversal !
