What can they claim if persuaded?

What can they claim in the short term. How do we prove that the mortgage is not contrived to make money?
I assume from this, that you are thinkin along the lines of your son claiming housing benefit [rent]?
As your son owns some of the house [£40,000 worth] he cannot claim rent for a property that is partially his. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
Isn't it a contrived tenancy as daddy got a mortgage on a house so his son could live in it and had no plans to get a BTL and rent to anyone else before this?
The £40k I read it as grandma didn't give the money to grandson but straight to the mortgage people/solicitors so grandma owns part of the house not grandson. (Well not in 1st post but later on).
I'm actually confused about who lives where TBH. At first it seemed as though mum & dad had a mortgage together.
