OP what sort of benefits do you think (hope) they might be able to claim? Your post does read as though they want housing benefit so that they can pay off the mortgage for his dad/grandmother.

Apologies if this is wrong, but you do major on that side of things in your initial post.

what I'm trying to get across is, that, if DS had been able to get the mortgage, then payments for a short time would not have nbeen an issue.

Because Dad could easliy get a buy to let then that was the next option.

The 40k was a gift anyway and will always be treated as such.

Have phoned local police, as feel certain posters are on here to intimidate- ongoing- will not put up with allegations and abuse.
