They reality is they do not do warnings, these are not sainthood parking wardens that are helping supermarkets keep car parks clear, they are lying cheating scam artists, often ex-wheel clamper's or people who have run other scams tricking and threatening money out of people.
They pick on vulnerable people, elderly and easily intimidated people, take money from them, tell them they paid late and extract more money from them, again and again, often hundreds of pounds and for what ? having a cup of tea in the cafe and over staying a few minutes ? and for that "great offence" you subject them to the local no neck thug team of scamers and bullies.
If supermarkets dont want people who are not customers to park then they could just install a barrier control system, you know like responsible companies do, however it often transpires that in your planning conditions you can not set parking restrictions or charges or limit the amount of time people stay for, so instead they opt for the thug approach.
IMO anyone who thinks that subjected an elderly couple to the local thug is the correct way deserves all the flak they get.

I doubt the cameras can deliberately pick out the vulnerable...

They're also expanding the system to start to cover our disabled spaces which we still have a persistent problem with.

Nice, , so the parking company will hassle and give grief to people who are disabled. Utter vermin. You realise a blue badge or the disabled logo means nothing in a private car park?

more like they'll hassle people who are parked in a disabled spot when they're not disabled and shouldn't be using the spot.

I'll be perfectly honest, I wasn't aware that they are not legally enforceable, does that also make issuing them illegal? :)

It's completely legal to issue an invoice.

People who use our car park for any reason for more than 3 hours are issued with warnings. Do you know how I know? Because my OH's father has received SEVERAL. We do not have people walking around our car park intimidating vulnerable people, it's done by an ANPR system, I assume you know what the 'A' stands for?

I've already said we tried using the barrier system, but we're a town center store, which is in the middle of a big town. It causes congestion and poses a real risk and hazard to the safety of pedestrians.

probably not, but the scam artists behind the whole sham can, in fact, they specialise in it.

The parking company don't give two hoots whether the person is disabled, all they want is money. Anyway it's irrelevant while parking in a private disabled spot is morally wrong there is no law against it.

I wonder how the cameras will determine how disabled a driver is? You could easily be the RK and fit but the passenger is disabled, how would a camera sort that out?
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Yes I am reading it, however if you are posting on behalf of your supermarket chain you might want to speak to your PR office first, if they get wind you will most likely end up with your own paperwork in the form of a p45 and holiday pay, please do be careful spouting on behalf of the company on a publicly google indexed forum.
That is a bit of friendly advice, not intended with any malicious intent.

No, the system is being expanded to recognise vehicles that have parked in disabled bays and are not registered disabled and issue them with an *cough* invoice. The concerned party is invited to show a valid disabled badge at which point the invoice will be invalidated.

It's an automated system. You really need to stop making a fool of yourself and stop accusing people and companies of things that you know nothing of.
