Well I wouldn't go to a supermarket that imposed a time limit on how long you could spend shopping.

My local B&Q had a 1 hour parking limit that they have now changed to 2 hours with return prohibited within 4 hours.

So if you buy something and want to return it you get charged £80 if you basically go back the same day.

    I stopped shopping there.

As I've been banging on in this thread. Supermarkets don't impose limits for the craic. They do it to stop people abusing the free car park. I honestly don't know why people have a problem with a private company saying if you want go park in my free car park I would rather you didn't park there all day!

What do you mean clearly? Prove it.

My disabled sister takes an age to shop, and wants cup of tea before and after. I know lots of OAPs that want to take their time shopping.
Can't you understand that some people need more or less time?

    wanting isn't needing.

[people are being horrible to me in this forum so i'm getting rid of any information I feel is personal]

A supermarket wouldn't want their actual customers to have a limit on the parking - they just don't want people abusing the parking spaces (making it more difficult for them to have legitimate customers.) As far as i'm aware these !!!!!!s aren't allowed to use the words:
    Fine
    Force
    Legal
    Illegal
    Penalty.

Things that imply they have the power to do such things. Section 15.4: of some code these places have to abide by for the DVLA to send them your details (and to exist I think)
However, most of them still do, there's a sainsbury's down the road from me that has signs with penalty and fine slapped all over them (with a 3 hour limit)

    __________

unintentional - I believe people are more angry about companies trying to scam their hard earned money off them by giving them 'fines' and also threatening, bullying and intimidating them.

The 4 - 5 hours for a monthly shop is a bit of a stretch as well. veg, fruit, meat, bread, toiletries, beans, milk, other stuff.. a months shopping done, dusted and in the cupboards with a pizza in the over in under an hour and a half.

I'd elect to park in a free car park - The morrisons by me is free, and even though it's close the the motorway relatively not busy (you can usualy find a space after 10 min on sat at peak time) or the ASDA close to me which pays it's customers the parking fees if they spend over £5 in the shop.

    __

The 4-5 most likely includes standing around chatting constantly (at least for the friend I have in mind) and also Cafe and possibly sneaking off to other shops.

I think the 4 - 5 hours might include a trip to the cinema and a pub lunch on the way home!
