I doubt the manager will care that much when you go in with your letter. I suspect you may become a bit of a laughing stock amongst the staff in morrissons! On a side note morrissons tend to have good cafe's!

Yes they do, pity I won't be visiting it again as they don't allow enough time to do your shopping and visit the cafe without trying to charge another £40 over and above what you spend in store.

If he is a decent manager he will care very much.

Companies, surprising as it may seem to you, actually like to know why they are losing customers.

Further to that they know that for every person who takes the trouble to make a legitimate complaint, there will be others who simply take their custom elsewhere.

Of course, he may get a manager who is a complete muppet but if he gets no satisfaction from him or her, he should write to Morrison's head office and I'm sure that they will have a 'word' with the manager in question.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

He's already emailed the CEO, I doubt he can go much higher! My problem is that I don't think he has a legitimate complaint. There was a sign in the car park saying you can only park for 2 hours. He exceeded this time and was fined. The fact the fine is not legal means the OP has got away with it and he doesn't have to pay.

However despite the constant warnings about visiting the cafe, the only warning that the OP is giving is that if you see a sign with parking restrictions you shouldn't ignore it!

There is nothing to get away with.

So Morrisons do not want you to spend more than 2 hours in their store?

It is a free car park with nowhere to even pay if you did decide to pay to overstay the 2 hour limit.

I was not fined, I got a sticky yellow envelope stuck to my windscreen with a bit of paper inside it which had my car details on it, the time my car was seen in the car park and a payment slip to send to CP Plus with a cheque for £40, reduced to £20 it I sent it within 28 days.

Well of course they don't as if they did they wouldn't put up the fricken sign!

There is something to get away with, you've broken the parking rules that Morrisons have in their car park, however due to questions of the legalities of the fine you don't have to pay. If it was legal for a company to be able to impose parking fines on customers who flout their parking regulations then you wouldn't have got away with it.

The fact that you don't respect the perfectly reasonable rules that a company try to implement reflects more on what sort of person you are than what sort of company Morrisons is.

Finally, someone with some sense. :)

Utter nonsense. There IS something to get away with. It's called the rules. Morrison's car park - Morrisons rules....people should start respecting the rules more, and then there would be less problems.

Just because the person doesn't need to pay the fine on a technicality, it doesn't make it right that they flaunt those rules to be honest.

Where did I say I was paying this £40 extortion demand?

I am warning people that if they do decide to avail themselves of Morrisons cafe after they have done their shopping that they should be prepared to find an extortion demand on their car for £40 in case they are not bright enough to realise that it is an extortion demand.

Have a look at the Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking forum to see how many people believe that they should pay.

There are more posters asking if they should pay than posters saying, like me, that they won't pay.

And I never got a letter, I got a dirty great big sticky envelope stuck on my windscreen.

I am awaiting the letters though, then I will take them into Morrisons and hand them to the manager and tell him or her that is why I am not spending over £100 a week in their store and no longer will my son and daughter.

And since this is a public forum where anyone can post, I will post here as long and often as I like.

If someone doesn't like it, tough! You can ignore my posts.

Here's an idea then....DON'T ignore the signs telling you about the 2 hour parking limit! If you don't want to park for under 2 hours, park somewhere else.
