I take it you work in Canary Wharf - where are you living?? -

Canary WHarf - A pretty average one bed flat -

Hmm...don't know why you're looking for a tenant. Must be a bit squashed in there.

And you have about 30 people on here telling you how to save money, but you won't take their advice!

All of which have been dont eat food - Eat soup - Is that a joke or something - Theres not one piece of advice other then about food which if I am honest I cant cut back on.

We eat very well on less than £300 per month for 4 adults, and although we sometimes eat soup it's usually as a starter or a quick snack not a main meal, and it's home made not from the chiller at the supermarket.

Are you eating all the food you buy or do you throw a lot away? If you must eat ready meals have you tried looking in the freezer cabinets, you would be much better off cooking from fresh ingredients, both financially and for health reasons.

Are you counting the pension contribution as a tax, it's not but it makes your take home pay look less than the figures on what's the cost. I understand how NI works, I was paying it before you were thought of and I used to work for the Department of Emplyment before I got a good job.

It's a wind-up lol, please don't anyone let it aggravate them. A university educated banker on £40k could surely:

    -spell
    -punctuate
    -post on the correct forum
    -take advice on board
-remember how many bedrooms he has
    -remember his salary
-learn how to use the quote button
-understand that the majority of the population don't spend £600 per month on food

Okay, you've had your fun winding people up, but run along now little boy, it's time to let the grown-ups get on with dealing with actual money issues.

And I'll apologise now for my rather grumpy post, I think it's my hormones!

Steve-since you were living with your parents last month (as per one of your other posts), maybe you should ask if you can move back till you are financially straight.

If you have hit the booze early cos it's Friday night and xmas and are winding us up;) , perhaps you should bear in mind that people post to try to help and if you annoy people too much they may stop offering advice meaning in future someone in genuine help misses out.

I saw the original posts too and can vouch for the discrepancies. As I say to my 6 year old when he tries to pull the wool over my eyes 'Do you really think I'm that stupid???'.

    Don't answer that!

I've just come across this thread and it seems Steve enjoys winding people up, judging by the inaccurate information he has posted.

Well Done Steve, now do one.
  • And for the record, a Zone 1-5 travelcard is £150 p m at 2007 prices, so a Zone 1-3 card should be costing you significantly less...............

  • In his defence, (even if it is a windup) if you have no confidence as a cook you can end up spending way too much on food.

I live on Income Support but find cooking difficulty because I have a disability that effects my hands. At the moment I'm spending enough on food for one that would feed a normal family. Have been haunting the MoneySaving Old Style board for easy recipes and tips on slow cookers so I can bring it down to a sensible level. Mind you, I don't drink much and I have no social life so I don't have the london lifestyle type of expenses.

It's not about not eating, it's about doing your own cooking. Having friends around for dinner and a DVD rather than going out to the pub all the time. Perhaps not drinking alcohol during the week and being organised enough to order your groceries online and have ASDA/Tesco/Sainsburys (or yes, even Waitrose) deliver to your door. No one has mentioned the obvious tactic of taking home made sandwiches to work for lunch rather than paying Pret A Manger £5 a throw. You could eat entirely organic for less than £600 a month (lucky swine).

Choose your own lifestyle, don't have it thrust on you by other people and for heavens sake DO NOT rely on your bonus. Live on your wage, get out of debt and put any extra bonuses into investments so you can afford that house you mentioned.
If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!
