I just purchased tickets on ticketmaster.
I dont recall any opt in for insurance or selecting it.
You can cancel the insurance by email but I have already been charged
£17.96.
Obviously in the heat of purchasing tickets you are anxious to complete
the deal but this is like automatic/mis selling.
anyone been caught like this?

Ive just had a look at purchasing page on ticketmaster
there is an option to select YES or No for insurance.
Why not just have a yes option to opt in?
but Im wondering if you leave both blank they automatically put you as a yes.0 -
Thanks for your reply but I am saying I did not select an opt in
and am wondering that if you leave both selections blank
it may automatically record a yes.0 -
Thanks.Ive emailed for a refund.0

Thank you for your response - we can confirm that the yes box must be selected for the insurance to be added. If the yes or no boxes are left blank, insurance is not automatically added. As previously mentioned, we are very happy to provide a refund and would of course be pleased to discuss your query with you directly if you would like to send your contact details to info@mondial-assistance.co.uk

I bought 2 tickets to go to an exhibition at the National Gallery. I was automatically charged for the insurance which I neither want nor need. It took me 3 emails and a phone call to get a refund from Mondial. A very underhanded way of getting money out of people.0

Same here - really outrageous. Not only was I charged £1.50 for the privilege of them sending me an email with the tickets for me to print out myself but then I discover this insurance scam.
I didn't opt in. Furthermore I am usually very careful and aware to these drop and tick boxes.
I had two friends visiting me from France. If it had been them making the purchase they probably wouldn't have known where to look to rectify this matter and Mondial would have kept another few £££s in its coffers.
Having said that, I still haven't had my money refunded - I've only sent off the initial email asking for a refund.
This reflects really badly on Ticketmaster and also on The National Gallery. I shall be very careful before buying from either of these organisations again.

Just purchased tickets for an event through ticketmaster. Yep, I had inadvertently signed up for the insurance which I didn't want
I'll now have to phone them to cancel it.
I think one of the problems is, it doesn't show IN YOUR FACE, the extra amount you are being charged as you are still focussing on the price of the tickets.
I also find it a bit rich that ticketmaster are charging £2.75 to email you the ticket to print off yourself. (no cost to them) or £2.95 to post the tickets by second class unrecorded mail. Both options are a rip off as they have already levied an admin charge.0 -
Many of the times it happens that leaving an option blank in the website either prompts the user or rather than that by default fills a "yes" option, and the user comes to know about this thing when he gets charged for something which he didn't wanted at all. The companies take this things for their own sake of profit.Be insured and be safe0

This morning, I placed an order for gig tickets via Ticketmaster. The tickets were emailed to me and contained the following at the bottom of the page:
“Thank you for adding Event Ticket Insurance to your order. You will be billed £9.18 (£4.59 per ticket) separately by Mondial Assistance (UK) Limited”
This was a surprise to me as I didn't even notice the option, let alone select it! With the timer ticking away to the right of the booking screen, I just wanted to get the order processed.
I thought from the wording that Mondial would invoice me for the money but I just checked my statement and they've already helped themselves. I feel like I've been mugged and have written and emailed Ticketmaster and Mondial to tell them so.
Definitely the last time I use Ticketmaster.0 -
