  • I too have been caught with this scam and charged £19 for tickets worth £53.
If one third of the people don't turn up they still make a profit!!!!!!

I have e mailed them twice and I get an automatic 'we are busy'.

I went back to check to see how it had happened.

    1. There is a clock telling you how your time is running out. A feeling of urgency is created and you feel that it has to be done quick, quick, quick, no time to read small print. Why would you any way, you are only buying some tickets , not a life changing purchase.--wrong!

    2. I went through the process of buying the ticket and watched carefully to see where the bit was about cancellation insurance. I saw it, brilliant you say, , wrong it was not brilliant, the page flashed on the screen for about 2 seconds and then moved onto the next page which once again had the clock showing how little time I had, I am not joking, that is what happened.

    THIS MUST BE ILLEGAL!!

    What go I do.
  • Yes, if you do not reply , you pay.

I tried to buy tickets again to see how I missed it.
There is a clock ticking to make you rush and....
I promise you , the page flashed up for 2 seconds, since I was actively looking for ticket cancellation insurance, I saw the words but then the page was gone. WOW!!!!!

    This must must be illegal.
  • This is a blatant lie,

    i did not opt in
  • If you have a complaint about how the insurance is sold, take it to

    customersupport@allianz-assistance.co.uk

This is because Ticketmaster is an Appointed Representative of Mondial Assistance. That means Mondial Assistance is responsible for Ticketmaster's behaviour - and the Financial Services Register gives this as the e-mail address for complaints to Mondial Assistance.

Note, though, that if you e-mailed Ticketmaster to complain about the saile of the policy, that would normally be deemed to be sufficient if Ticketmaster acknowledges receipt.

If you do not get a satisfactory response issued within 8 weeks, you can go to the Financial Ombudsman Service - free to you.
  • Just had the same problem. I looked for the Insurance opt in to opt out of opting in box.

It was NOT obvious and I doo feel that adding on such costs without making it clear is a real attempt to boost profits. Its very underhand. I will see how I get on as I sent an e mail within 3 minutes of getting the charge levied AFTER I had paid for tickets.
I will contact AMEX and contest the charge as I did not op in for insurance and I certainly did not want it!

Is there not some legal requirement to allow a 'cooling off period' ie can you bring the legality of this into play when challenging for a refund that you are due?
I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)

Better to be approximately right than precisely wrong.

I am the latest person to have this done to them. The annoying thing is that insurance is mentioned during the process of buying and its cheaper than the auto-add crap at the end.

I paid by credit card, so will contact them to get my money back from this underhand practise.
  • They're still doing this.

I have emailed insurance@allianz-assistance.co.uk, but it looks like I'm going to need to call based on the experience of others.

I've also reported it to trading standards because it's a clear case of being misled into buying.

I didn't opt in to the insurance and it's not shown in any of the payment summaries.
