how is it irrelevant? You were making the point that you could order 100 but you won't get them as they won't be in stock. That is very different from not being allowed to order them in the first place even if they are in stock.

I never said they wouldn't deliver them because they ran out, I would suspect they wouldn't clear the shelf of all stock for one customer over a set amount, regardless of what it lets you order online.

Maybe they have decided to encourage people to give up smoking next month they will cut it even further in the hope of weening you off them LMAO

Calm down, go and have a ciggy, but don't smoke too many you might run out before next weeks shop.

I never said I knew there reason for sure I can you an indication as to why its been introduced. Your talking with people from the online side of things the actual store manager from where your shopping is being picked may have put that restriction on. Which it could simply be because several people in your area are doing the same thing and they can't control the stock level to ensure in store customers are also able to purchase multipacks.

Thanks pitkin ...but if you read my original post ( which you obviously didn't ) you would see that I spoke to the .com grocery manager at the store that delivers my shopping and he categorically stated that neither he or his store had imposed any limits .:p

I love the way that apparently Tesco put a limit on multi buys but then at the same time encourage multi buys with 2 for 1s, 3 for 2s, 2/3/4 for £x, 5% wine discount etc, etc, etc

YES but the average consumer if its buy 1 get 1 free may buy 2 or 3 a total of 6. Or at 5% discount would buy 5 lets say, not 200. The only people likely to be buying items like one type of wine would be your cheap corner shop who is going to put it out for resale.

If you are so concerned about buying in bulk go to bookers

I don't know the heirarchy within tesco hence I used may. The decision could have come from anywhere and I bet if you phone again they are likely to tell you a different reason to the last one. Either way the system has been set up that way and you can't bypass it. Maybe email CS again and ask for them to review it and see what they come back with.

I am waiting for them to contact me with the details of when the decision was taken ( and why ).The only reason I have been so annoyed about it is because my last online shop with them was delivered on Tuesday this week , I attempted to place my new order on Saturday .This means ,any change in corporate policy seems to have been made in the preceding four days , yet none of the Staff know anything about it .

the former is the point of contact for customer relations through the entire store, the latter deals specifically with issues regarding the CSD and Cigarette Kiosk, if there *is* a limitation in store, they would know, not the dot Com manager.

How about having managers talk to each other? Just an idea like :p
3 managers and still cack service - sheesh! time to cut out the rot.

Unbelievable thead. OP wants to buy 3 multi packs and not only can't when he could last week but also gets the run around from the headless chickens who don't know what is going on and can't seem to find out so therefore he has to
    a. give up cigarettes (extra bonus point for the patronising moralising) and/or
    b. shop in two or more different places or two or more different websites and/or
    c. listen to twee comments about relaxing and sitting back.

I don't smoke and haven't for 25+ years but I wouldn't take kindly to this. If Tesco want to implement a limit then is it so hard to give a consistent reason and not just invent twaddle such as scared delivery drivers? As for their right to do whatever they want large firms with a significant market share do have some responsibilities and being open and up front costs little.

The replies here are enough to make anyone take to realxing drugs.
