Tesco.Com scam ?

Tesco are a business right?
If someone wants 3 multipacks, they say "no" on the off chance that:
a) they run out
b) someone else may want the third one before they can restock
Sounds more like communism to me.
Wish they'd do the same with decent champagne when it is on offer, since these shelves, strangely, always seem to be empty.I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying0 -
OP - In store bulk buy limits are set at 6; certain stores raise that limit to 10.
Problem is, Tesco obviously do their deliveries from stores, not from dedicated warehouses, so when that store only gets... 30 multipacks of a particular brand of cigarettes per week and a single person wants 1/10th of the total stock, that might cause problems for the other customers. It's unfair on both counts, but the system should automatically be ordering more to meet demand.
I don't work for the dot com side of the business so I can't really tell you exactly what's going on. However, phoning the dot Com manage of the store is a useless idea, your best bet is to either get in contact with the "Customer Service Manager" or the "Services Manager", the former is the point of contact for customer relations through the entire store, the latter deals specifically with issues regarding the CSD and Cigarette Kiosk, if there *is* a limitation in store, they would know, not the dot Com manager.
Quick & sneaky edit: It may very well be a bug in the system caused by a new update, unfortunately they're not tested as well as they could be sometimes; there have been incidences where a streamed update has killed every checkout in an entire group of stores.0 -

But that is called "running out" as opposed to "rationing"I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying0 -
Put my toys back in the pram ..haha very funny .
Are you aware of Tesco's corporate stance on the selling of cigarettes ? I congratulate you if you are , because you are better informed than their staff , who have absolutely no idea when or indeed if this decision came into effect.2009 WAS A FANTASTIC YEAR FOR SURVEY EARNINGS £ 175.00 AND THAT WAS JUST FROM JULY TO DECEMBER:p WILL BE DOING LOADS MORE IN 2010:j:D0 -

its irrelevant either way then can impose what ever restrictions they like. As already mentioned most stores limit bulk buying to 6 items in store to ensure they have stock still, plus it stops the cheapy shop keepers buying a pallet of something for resale.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

Limiting to 6 or 10 multi packs is probably fair enough. 2 is ridiculous. Hopefully it is a bug.I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying0 -

how is it irrelevant? You were making the point that you could order 100 but you won't get them as they won't be in stock. That is very different from not being allowed to order them in the first place even if they are in stock.I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying0 -

Calm down, go and have a ciggy, but don't smoke too many you might run out before next weeks shop.
I never said I knew there reason for sure I can you an indication as to why its been introduced. Your talking with people from the online side of things the actual store manager from where your shopping is being picked may have put that restriction on. Which it could simply be because several people in your area are doing the same thing and they can't control the stock level to ensure in store customers are also able to purchase multipacks.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
I love the way that apparently Tesco put a limit on multi buys but then at the same time encourage multi buys with 2 for 1s, 3 for 2s, 2/3/4 for £x, 5% wine discount etc, etc, etcI don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying0

Have just had a call from CS they are now saying that they have limited the amount of cigarettes .com customers can purchase because of their delivery drivers .If they are carrying more than 200 cigarettes in their van they could be a target for an attack .Am I stupid ...each van delivers to up to 20 customers in a two hour time slot , do they arrange the deliveries so that each van only holds 200 cigarettes .Somehow I don't think so .2009 WAS A FANTASTIC YEAR FOR SURVEY EARNINGS £ 175.00 AND THAT WAS JUST FROM JULY TO DECEMBER:p WILL BE DOING LOADS MORE IN 2010:j:D0
