Not sure about the keys as yet - mum will get them before me so I have no idea. I am waiting for a call from her. I need to gain access to the house for meter readings for water, gas and leccy.
I have had fun today - hanging on the phone for ever for Eon and initially I signed up with them but then I phoned my current supplier whose gas and electricity prices are far cheaper and I will pay a variable amount each month for the utilities that I use. Eon are dreadful as they take for ever to answer the phone - totally different to Scottish Power who answer within 2 minutes.
I have had rests today and am just back from the hardware shop where I was nosing at gardening implements, nipped to the stationers (a wierd shop as they now sell loo rolls and shampoo) for a roll of parcel tape, and via the corner shop for a pot of shippams beef paste for my sandwiches for the next two days.
I could do without the work trial for 2 days as there is much to be done - too many clothes and too many books plus there is the office to pack up.0 -
Mum has the keys - they were handed over at 4.30pm. She nearly didnt get them because her solicitor forgot to transfer the money and we would have incurred late penalty fees (which he would have had to pay). Mum has been to the house and started the airing process, she plans to spend the next couple of days there (returning home at lunchtime to prepare dad's lunch) painting. She is going to paint the pantry and the wardrobes. She has given the carpets a spray with febreze.
The vendors left behind the curtains (less stress for me) and the bathroom cabinet.
Mum has had better luck with Eon as they answered the phone within a few minutes not the three quarters of an hour that I had just hung on for to tell them that I was having my power from Scottish Power because not only were they cheaper but they dont leave their customers hanging on the phone all day. I will pay for what I use.
She is now off to Apollo to buy the cooker, fridge freezer and washing machine.
I cannot believe that I have a house to live in - one that I can call my own. Is it real, can someone pinch me?0 -
Just delurking to say congrats on getting the house. Hope you spend many happy years enjoying a place of your own.
(hugs)

Did not log onto computer at all yesterday. Not sure about the work trial to be honest with you, I do not like the girl I will be working with and she tends to speak to me as though I am a piece of dog dirt on the bottom of her shoe:mad: Unfortunately, the boss tends not to notice and probably thinks that it is this girl's way - it probably is judging by the way she speaks and treats another of her colleagues. He gets the brunt of her bullying and to be honest the boss participates because she does not understand his condition. He either has ADHD or Asperger's - he is extremely clever but is concerned that something bad will happen if someone says the wrong thing or does something that interferes with his system. I discovered that he was studying for a Masters Degree in Space Science but had to leave his course after not receiving any help for his disability.
The computer screen is way too small for me (I cannot zoom it) and I cannot see if someone is on hold because the light is miniscule and I just don't see it. This is something that I get shouted at about by the girl in the office and I must admit that I did bite back yesterday to say that I was aware that i had someone on hold and that I had only just placed them on hold whilst I found out an answer to a question. I was answering the telephone and making calls before this girl was even born:mad:
Her attitude to me has made me think that I actually want her job and I will do what I can to a) get a job there and b) get rid of her - does that sound like a horrid thing to do?0 -

Today was slightly better - the phone was swapped so I had a phone with an obvious mute button on it and I could see the light on it. I took my magnifying rule in today which helped enormously. Didnt speak much to any of them really until this afternoon after the boss had gone to sports day and the 3 day week girl had gone home. I was asked questions about Remploy, sales calls, where I had worked before although it was made clear to me that she was the office manager, I got two sales and even started ringing dead accounts and from that I may have two that I can cultivate to become customers again. It seems that I shouldnt have been ringing dead accounts but although something may have laxed it doesnt mean to say that they will never buy again. The screen is still an issue plus it seems to be linked to a laptop too so that I kept losing the mouse onto the screen I wasnt using.
This afternoon was slightly better plus I only needed to be shown something once. I also checked orders prior to despatch too.
One thing that I did do and that was to take the notes that I have made so that the trialee tomorrow starts from scratch. I tried to make sure that there wasnt much for her to do.
I have a meeting with R*mploy tomorrow which I could do without (too much packing, so little time) to discuss my concerns. I will get paid for two days' work as well plus a decision will be made over the weekend and I will be contacted next week. All staff members need to have an input as to whether or not I will fit in with them.0 -

I would like the job if certain conditions were met. It is an easy peasy job but it is a job nevertheless and although I would get a wage, I would also get £5 for every order and new customer.
I am not sure about the bullying though - that put's me off as does the sarcasm or the shouting at me as though I am stupid.0
