Thanks Peb. I know that I will get the house in the end. I know nothing about buying a house - 'im indoors bought the marital home without any input from me (a place that I hated the whole time we were married). It sure is a stressful business but fun nonetheless and I look forward to reading all the papers about the searches etc. Must admit that when I worked on a legal practice course that was run at Uob back in the mid 1990's that I really hated typing up anything to do with conveyancing as it bored me rigid but now I seem to be a bit more interested.
Yesterday mum bought me a white bath mat, a chrome bin and a loo brush from Aldi. I got one for myself as I need one in the flat and I will take it with me and put the brand new one into my store cupboard.
I have booked a hair appointment at the local college for Monday afternoon - this means that I will be in the training salon but it will cost me £20 for a cut and colour. Mum had given me £30 to get my hair done so I will have saved £10 which can go into my savings pot. Must admit that I really like the 59p Aldi shampoo - it washes out well too.
I am still battling with this application form - I must have re-written the additional info section about 20 times now but I have to get it right (when I say written - I have written it down on a notepad and typed up on the computer).0 -
Hey Horace,
Just briefly caught up on your news, sorry the house isn't going as smoothly as hoped, your Mum sounds on the ball with it though so hopefully they'll play game and you can move in as plannedGot fingers crossed for you

Blimey it was foggy when I woke up this morning, I switched on BBC Breakfast in time to catch some breaking news about an horriffic crash on the M5 about 6 miles from my home. It is in an area notorious for fog, in roadworks too and I feel sure that the lights were off as there have been warning signs up saying that the lights will be off all night. It is sheer madness to switch the lights off along that stretch of motorway as it is on the lights that manage to pierce the thick fogs.
Just washed my hair and am now working on the last bit of my application form and I will email it across with a covering letter today. I have planned my dinner already - it will be spag bol - I have the remainder of a tin of Eazy Onions to use up (I had run out of fresh onions when I had steak the other night and just fancied some fried onion to go with it).0 -
Pottered around the flat on Saturday and yesterday I went to Aldi in the morning (a lovely walk there and back) and then I went to my parents in the afternoon. I find it hard talking to dad these days - I know he is deaf but I feel that I am an irritation because I have to shout and in the end I have to leave the room:( He is also getting lazier and won't shift himself to make a drink not even for mum when she came home from the NEC on Friday feeling quite ill. I spent time with mum in the greenhouse helping her pot up plants and seedlings - we also had a good chat and I was reminded about making a will which I will do - the reason is that should I die intestate some members of the family that we detest will inherit:eek:
I took along the auction catalogue for mum to look at and blow me if she doesnt spot an early 20th century sideboard - she is now going to view it and put a bid on it. I quite like the sideboard but I don't like it as much as the 1940's display cabinet I saw in the second hand shop this morning - it was tucked away at the back behind a ton of furniture...the cost a mere £45. I shall have a think and maybe go and buy it (must withdraw cash from credit union). It is quite a narrow cabinet so won't take up much room but it will be big enough for some of my antique glass that is currently stored in my parents' loft.0 -
Back from the hairdressers - my appointment was at 1.30pm and I have been at home for 5 mins. Thus are the perils of attending on training day, however, the colour was done well although the poor girl got into a panic when washing my hair because I mentioned having a little bit cut off the back - she had never cut hair before other than on her dummy. A tutor started her off and came back to check regularly - I have no idea why the trainee got into such a panic because the hair looks great. Cost to me £20 plus I got a stamp on my loyalty card - only 3 more sessions to get 15% off (I get 15% off on my third session). Mum gave me £30 to spend on hair - so I have £10 for the credit union pot (although I may use it to get some garden implements on Thursday as there is a hand hoe/rake that I am after.0

Must admit I quite liked having my hair cut by a trainee yesterday, she was very good although not very confident in her abilities. I think that when I go back I will book and specificially ask for her:) There were some terrors in the training salon yesterday - one managed to get bleach onto her client's clothing and was told to clean it off even though the client said that it was ok. She also persistently wanted to go out for a fag but was told she could not leave her client so then the attitude started. I felt sorry for the client and the tutor and there is no way on this earth that I would let that girl near my head:eek:
This morning I have made a start on the divorce papers and will drop them in the court tomorrow (may as well kill 3 birds with one stone).
I have also realised that I must not procrastinate too much and overthink things....least said about that the better methinks.0 -

Not around at all yesterday - I left home at 8.15 to get to the eye hospital for 10am. I didnt get home until gone 3pm:eek: I had a good whinge about my specs which are not fit for purpose:mad: the dispensary was closed for stocktaking (it hardly ever seems to be open) so I whinged where it mattered..in clinic. A new refraction test is being made for me so that my eyes can be retested - hopefully not by the 21 year old who looks like she is 12.
It would appear that I am having a flare up of uveitis again - my first really bad flare up since December 2007. I explained that I was under a lot of stress but prof said there wasn't really enough proof to say that stress exacerbates the condition so I suggested that he do some research into this. When I am totally stress free I have no uveitis when I am under stress then I get it..makes sense to me that it is somehow related.
As a dutiful citizen I allowed a medical student to examine me under the guidance of prof's registrar and then I was asked if I would allow a visiting consultant to look so I agreed. I was then asked by the registrar if I would be willing to have photographs taken of my eyes and again I agreed - it was the most uncomfortable thing I have had done because I was blinded by the light and my left uveitisy eye was quite painful and I kept blinking. The pictures will be used in a research paper thankfully without my name attached:rotfl: Poor prof is very busy at the moment with staff holidays etc. He always comes to see me though regardless of how busy he is. When I was having a glaucoma op he even came and visited me on the ward and spent a little time with me which was nice.
I got the bus back into the city centre and went to the court to hand my papers in - now I wait for 4 weeks. I was told that I would have to wait 6weeks and a day before I applied for the absolute. One hopes that the judge will grant the divorce and award me some money. Had a word in the court about the over flowery language used on the court documents and how difficult they were for a lay person to understand (it took several reads to work out what they wanted and even then I didnt get it quite right when I started the proceedings and had to make amendments). The court official told me that the papers would be changing to plain english to make it easier for folks who don't employ solicitors.
After the court trip, I went to my favourite cafe and treated myself to a double shot latte and a slice of cake - alas no carrot cake as they had run out so instead I had chocolate guiness cake (carrot cake is nicer). I then got the bus home but took the bus to Rubery so that I could take my prescription in - they are going to deliver it today because I will have 16 boxes of minims to go with the 2 I already have in the fridge - I have had to clear most of the fridge to fit them in and even then I will be struggling:eek: I walked home as I couldnt be bothered to wait for the bus even though I felt unwell - I had had dilating drops put in at the eye hospital so my eyes felt as though they were on stalks. Must admit that although my specs are transitions I did wear some large clip on sun specs over the top plus I was wearing my sun hat.
Today, is catch up day - catching up on stuff I couldnt do yesterday plus I need to nip to Aldi to get some gardening clogs and an implement for the garden.0 -
