Just back and playing catchy-uppy! Fab news about the tax rebate. I got one and they still owe me for another year and the letters made my head hurt and I too thought that i owed them money! Had to read the letter x3 over the phone to J until I made sense of it!

:( I can't understand why nobody has snapped you up already on the job front and I can fully understand your loss of mojo, but it is credible that you are ploughing on and putting in so much effort. It must pay off soon, surely. Hopefully the tax rebate is just the start of a long run of good luck :D

Big hugs, coffee soon? When you you feel up to it xx

Great news about the tax rebate, here's hoping that it marks the start of a great year for you :T:T:T

Does it mean that some of the pressure is off and you don't need to part with your treasures?

As Beanie says, keep plodding, there will be a job out there with your name on it, it is just finding the right one.

Milly coffee would be ace - let's go:D

I may yet part with some treasures as I would like to clear the backlog of rent before I move - yes you read that right, I will be moving asap. My dad has seen a small 2 bedroom house with central heating for sale that he wants to buy for me (it will be in his name until I get a divorce and then it will be transferred to me). I have been to view the outside of it today as my parents wanted me to check it - I have seen pictures of the interior on the internet and it looks clean and tidy. My parents would prefer it if I wasnt paying rent at all - so would I if truth be known. It makes sense plus I could either sell the house in a few years or even rent it out and earn a living from it.

I need to ask OH for £15K settlement plus my furniture as it is unfair of me to leave with just my furniture..I have furniture that I can sell as well namely a 1960's sideboard and an original 60's spinny chair.

Mum & I also plan to do a carboot when the weather permits (ie. when it is warmer). Both of us have stuff to be rid of.

I came home from parents with a sealion steak (sirloin), a bag of frozen mince, some spuds and a box of cakes.

The job front is frustrating because there are often too many people going after one job and the fact that I am/have been self employed puts people off. Age and disability is also a factor but hey ho - these folks don't know what they are missing out on. The right job for me is out there I just know it. As for those that chose to reject me then it is their loss - the music festival one makes me smile because the person they chose because she had organised a festival before did not market it at all and therefore it is still in the doldrums and not as big as it could have been under my guidance (I guess they got what they paid for:rotfl:).

The house sounds lovely will keep my fingers crossed for you

Mmm steak! What a nice treat, hope you enjoy.

Its such a shame for you on the job front as from reading your diary you sound massively employable and would be an asset. They're missing out. Its such a shame that's its so hard to come across well on paper, im so impressed at your commitment to it all. Good Luck

  • Wonderful news about the house. You could sell or rent the house later, but why would you want to do that? Sounds great to be able to live rent and mortgage free. Or have I misunderstood? Hope the ex is co-operative about the £15.

The house that my parents live in is also mine and when they pass on, I will live there - it has 3 bedrooms, an extension, double garage, about three quarters of an acre of garden, a large shed and greenhouse. This house is mortgage free.

The house that my parents propose to buy will also be mortgage free and I wouldn't have to pay them rent either - they have suggested that further down the line I could either sell the house and move somewhere else or keep the house and move into their's when they have gone and earn an income from this one. I too am hoping the ex will be co-operative - I need to broach the subject with him and I am not looking forward to that. My dad, in particular, reminded me that after ex was made redundant, he was unemployed for 3 years and in that time I contributed towards the house (mainly by shopping for food - I did not contribute anything else other than support, did not pay bills as they were his domain). Alas he is very old fashioned and felt that he should provide and pay bills - it really annoyed him that I kept my finances separate from his...we should never have married particularly as his parents were old (his dad was 94 and he died about 6 months after we got married and his mother by this time was in her 70's)...still I didnt know any different and wasn't up to listening to my mum at that time.:(

    This is the potential house:

There is a large-ish off-road parking area out the front too. I have been mentally decorating the house as well.

I have been looking for work today as well as getting involved in a dispute over parking with an ignorant student with attitude - what beggars belief is the fact that she felt that as she paid road tax she could park where she damned well pleased and she moaned that she did not have any money to pay for parking - it is £1 to park all day on a secure, lit carpark yet she drove quite an expensive car. I did ring the college to complain but there is very little that can be done and I do have a sneaky suspicion that the students are told they park on the side streets where there is 'free' parking despite them causing a nuisance. I will be glad to move away when the time comes.

My plan for this year is to find a job...even if it is a lesser paid job, I would like to be able, if possible to walk to work (it will keep me fit and thinner). Am looking for work in Rubery, Northfield, Bromsgrove, Barnt Green (although I would have to drive to Barnt Green, Bromsgrove and possibly Northfield). I am also looking at Bham City Centre but that will be a daily bus or train trip.
