Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget

Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Yellow - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good luck everyone.

    Hello everyone!

Thanks for the new thread LC! th_two_thumbs_up.gif?t=1300077655

Just quickly popping in before bed, to report that I was green last week with a spend of £123.45 out of my pledged £125 - Yay! :j All of which I managed to spend at the beginning of the week in one day, and I so maximised my NSDs for the rest of the week, so I was very chuffed with that :D

Right, I must go to bed now, it's way past my bedtime! I'll be back within the next couple of days when I've worked out my budget for this week. Have a good rest of the weekend everyone - sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite! sleep%20on%20pillow.gif

    Hi Elsiepac

Can you put me down for £40 this week. This week spends won't be so bad (I hope) but the week after I have a lot of commitments, so I will try and reign it in this week in preparation for next.

    Thanks

    Meersy

    Hi guys

Updated first post... well done Chris on maximising the NSDs - it's something I can't get my head round annoyingly, as I start panicking that I'll need something and end up with a few days with lots of small spends...bizarre!

Right, I'm off out in a minute - going to the cinema with mummy dearest to see Transformers, yay! (I love it... and Shia LaBeouf :p ) She is paying this time and I'll pay next month so cheap day for me! ~Then seeing the girls for coffee after, so £3 spend there, then tonight it's the Apprentice Final! :j Can't wait! Busy day! But hopefully cheap...!

    Have a good Sunday all...

    Hi everyone!

Well, I've had a good weekend (spending-wise) so far, so I think I'm going to go Saturday-Saturday this week :)

Spent £2 on parking yesterday, but also earned £80 (an extra job, not day job or overtime or anything).

This week I have to pay my friend back £20 and am going to see Harry Potter tomorrow (VERY excited!) so have to pay my friend back for that ticket. So I'm going to have a fairly large spend this week (large to me anyway). But I'm going away next week so want to keep the spend as low as possible still....

I think I'm going to pledge £50. That gives me £25 for paying back friend and cinema, and another £25 to cover my incidentals.... wish me luck!!

    xx

    Bleuuurgh Monday!

I spent £3.95 yesterday as the coffee somehow morphed into a glass of wine! :rotfl:

Also 850 Boots points... gone! however it was on 3 necklaces in their sale - one for my friend whose birthday is on Wednesday - I had already got her presents but felt it needed a little something else so she has a necklace as well now, one of them is for me... mwa ha ha ... and one is being held back for a present for another friend - possibly even for Christmas, only I do like it so unsure if that will last! Some good deals though - £9 down to £2.50, £10 down to £3.50. not that I'd ever pay those prices for that stuff, but still, bargain!

Transformers was BRILLIANT! Only I didn't really like the English girl in it who they'd brought in to replace Megan Fox. I LIKE Megan Fox and my loyalties lie with her on this one! they should have just told her off, not sacked her! Grrrrr  instead they employed mrs no-brains-or-personality. At least Megan fox has a bit of ooomph about her, she has a mind of her own! anyway, rant over..... :A

Have updated the first post with your new pledges - shout if I've made any mistakes!

    Have a good day all!

    Morning all

£10 spent yesterday at Bootcamp (3 hours of exercise in the rain) but it will be worth it for my hols.

£2.29 spent on bread and veg.

£27.71 left and from that I will be taking my nephews swimming £6ish, going to 2 classes of circuits £6 which doesn't leave me much for the weekend.

    Morning all!

I forgot I went to the pub last night when calculating my spend for the weekend. lol. That's got to be bad when you're blanking out spends?! haha.

Total spend so far £15.65, with 6 quid to be spent tonight on cinema. I'm going to take my own drink with me so I don't spend money on their overpriced snacks etc :)

    Have a good Monday everyone!
