How about just hanging around in a cafe waiting for a break in the rain to go out on the boat - the rain broke this afternoon here and it was rather pleasant. Hopefully it will do the same at some point on Monday? If not, propose in the cafe!

There is the Boathouse Cafe I guess, I just hope the rain won't be constant. There's the issue though of getting in a boat full of water, I may as well take her for a swim!

Not in that area but how about the Fortnum & Mason ice cream parlour? Posh shop, nice surroundings, no need to worry about the rain, something different to normal but not too pricey at £12 for a sundae - which you could share to be romantic ;)

    http://www.fortnumandmason.com/the-parlour.aspx

You could even ring in advance and see if they could slip the ring underneath the sundae dish so it's a surprise until the end of the ice cream. And if she says yes, a glass of prosecco for £6.75 each to celebrate.

(suggested as I am probably going there myself tomorrow with a visitor to London, saw the menu and figured it was a good rainy day activity!)

This totally wins in my book, but I'm a big ice cream fan.

What about the London eye? If you did an evening one too that could be really lovely then a meal afterwards somewhere?

    Part of the Furniture
    Peace Pagoda in Battersea Park?

Would provide a bit of shelter at least! And quite romantic.

Oh my! ICE CREAM. I need to visit this place now. It looks far too inviting.
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.

Well, the beauty of London is the fact that it's full of beautiful parks, but these are obviously ruled out by the rain.

I think the evening tea thing is a little too out of the range, I mean, money shouldn't be an issue, and it wouldn't be if I had it. I've been looking for decent restaurants around Madame Tussauds as we'll be going there in the morning, but to no avail. Anyone familiar with that area of London?

There's a Pizza Express around there I believe and there's a 50% off voucher available at the moment. Is this too cheap?
Some very nice, reasonably priced restaurants in Chinatown, especially if you go for Dim Sum

Scrap this. Worst idea ever. I like the ice cream thing (still like afternoon tea best if money was no object). Ice cream always puts people in a good mood too!

Love Fortnum & Mason ice cream parlour idea! I really want to go to London now and try this! I love the chocolate fondue for two on the menu as well, might be possible to see I the staff would be able to help you out with the proposal with something like that.

Definitely worth a shot, still my back up though depending on the rain. Everyone knows not to trust forecasts, it may clear when the time comes, could even still go there. Fantastic, thanks everyone for your suggestions =]

If I do make it tomorrow I'll pop back on here and let you know how good it was ;)

Glad to be of help, fingers crossed for sunny weather and if not then ice cream all the way...
