I did not have you pegged as an ugh wearer, that's for sure.
But I was thinking about for your office shoes.0 -

my preferred brand is emu, at least i'm not a chav, eh? i used to just use them as slippers, but since have decided that warmth matters more in the warmth/embarassment trade off formula. they are very helpful for apres-ski as well as you can cram them in a small rucksack.
sheepskin insoles may keep my feet warm, but they are not going to stop me from slipping and falling over.
the lobby of our building has polished faux-marble floors, which are also no help when combined with leather soled shoes with no grips. a couple of months back, i slipped walking into the lift and properly went flying, straight into the lift, and rebounded off the wall on the far side, ending up in a crumpled heap on the floor. luckily there was no-one in there! i think the security guy saw it though...0 -
I like Celtic sheepskin ones best, but I wouldn't buy them. The ones I like are hundreds and hundreds. I wear chav ones but I do only really wear them at home or in the local town wear its quite quite good to go in disguise...0

I'm not looking forward to the cold weather as I have the responsibility of an empty house X miles away and so need to adjust the heating on/off.... I don't really understand the system (back boiler) but I do know how to get it to come on/off by sliding some little knobs on a switch in a cupboard... and, while it's been warm, I've had it set to two lots of 2 hours/day, but it'd need more in the cold.
Temperature control is via each individual rad, which will be a pain to try to guess at.... it is hit/miss if you're there 24/7 to get each one right. To pop over daily and check would mean a £100/month fuel bill in the car..... not good. Already been spending about £200/month with all the stuff/driving/visiting I've been doing.
If you really are just trying to prevent pipes freezing, rather than heat the house, a few hours during the night with the loft hatch open and all doors open should do it. If there are any pipes near outside walls (particularly with vents near them) maybe a bit of lagging too.

Woohoo, another book in the post, and it's the other one by the same author. I have turned the hot water on....l.ldon't know if I will have time for a bath before collecting Dh.
I have downloaded the kindle thing on to the contraption, but now do not really know what to do with it, how I buy books through it. There is another reader thing, I downloaded that one too. No idea how to work that either.0 -

It'll be fine if I just have the heating on as it was when people were there.... remember, every £1 we spend is £1 the Govt don't take... so it might as well go on ensuring the house is warm and toasty.0 -

PN, I don't have a garage, sorry. And the sheds up here are too cold.
Have you considered a cupboard though.....

Oh yes I have! (Sorry, Panto rehearsals have started)
What's more, one of my cats is an Aspie, but we have addressed the worst aspects of this now, after 15 years.
She was born like it. Hated being touched or cuddled, until we found out she'd enjoy attention if she could put her head in a box or basket. Gradually we withdrew the props......err, very gradually.
Now she keeps half an eye out for when one of us is going to sit down/go to bed and piles-in immediately. Different animal. She's learned to purr really well too.0
