There is something quite amazing about being in a crowd of 40,000 cheering on a team.
I'm not sure they get that sort of gate at the Town though.0 -
PN you must come and stay in our garage, double size but with a single electric door and we have not had the chance to fill it with junk yet. Frost is forecast and the car is having its first night in the garage
.
PN you must come an stay in our garage, single, detached, tidy with a little red sportscar in it (mine - OH bought it for me for 1st bithday after we married - I have had it 28 years). You will have the company of our resident black cat who sleeps in the rafters at night. The back of the garage is converted to a utility/boot room with a seperate loo. There is also a fridge for drinks, a kettle and the PANTRY.0 -

I agree, we all have lots of choices and freedom. But I think we can only enjoy them and make the best of them once we realise the underlaying chaos of life.I'm getting better, slowly, thanks. And my empty feeling has nothing to do with the weather or the economy, and everything to do with supporting my parents through the last few months while trying to hold it all together as a working single parent of complicated bereaved children.
I know it doesn't help much, Lydia, but we all admire you and form a silent supporting fan club....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I must have missed that - is it a peacock? there was one which wandered around the village when I was a child, having escaped from Leeds Castle (so t'was rumoured, anyway). It was glorious, although a bit dim. And peacocks have such a lovely cry - "honk-be-LORIA"PasturesNew wrote: »Here's one for the property flippers: www.shadesoflight.com/naturally-superior-twig-chandelier.html
One up on twigs in a vase!
HOW MUCH? I'm feeling slightly unwell. I rather like it - but a grand for a few twigs?Doozergirl wrote: »I wonder, does anyone have a rec for a posh London restaurant that does a fabulous MSE lunch deal for a friend's birthday tomorrow?
I'm just turning circles here.
Isolabella on Red Lion Street is good, but I don't know about lunch time deals, sorry....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

This post will make no sense at all later.
Doesn't make much sense to me - have I missed something exciting? Or am I just thick?
I'm not a football fan, myself, but I did read this rather funny article about a football match on a gluten-free-food-blog:
I’d worn my Charlton shirt because I’d thought we were sitting in the neutral end but it turned out we were in the Fulham end, which meant I had to keep my jacket zipped up. Not that Fulham fans are likely to have a go, that is, they’re more likely to say something like “I say, I’d really rather you didn’t support the other team if you don’t mind”. Even if they did try it, It’s be something like “Do you mind awfully if I thump you on the nose?”
It’s not great sitting in the other stand but the Charlton stand was at full volume all the match, even when we were 4-0 down, mainly singing “top of the league” or ”FA Cup, who gives a f***, Charlton Athletic, we’re going up” and, the one that made me laugh most about 85 minutes in, “one goal, we only want one goal”!

Oh but it does help. That's why I'm on here so consistently. I have wonderful RL friends who are an invaluable support, but our lives are busy and I can't see them all the time. You lot, however, are there every day, and my life would be poorer without you. So thank you, all of you.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Oh well, fwiw, I feel the same about you, and the others of course.
Well, the reason not to have more than one of those 'you on a good day' vitamin drinks is you stay awake all night. But I did finish my book, and another one I was re reading, so.......I'm having another one right now.

frosts are lovely, unless you're wearing work shoes with a flat leather sole of course...
actually january and february are my favourite time of year. i wish we had a colder climate in this country. i'd basically like the whole of winter to be below freezing, and some kind of law against the max temperature in summer exceeding 22C. i don't mind a bit of sun now and then, and i like going somewhere hot (but not humid) for a couple of weeks holiday, but generally when i'm going to work or just trying to get on with my life, i just find heat bothersome.0 -

Well, you already have a choice of 3 garges now PN, so I won't confuse the issue.
Ours has had dead pheasants hanging in it most of the time since Christmas, so the ambience isn't that special anyway. :rotfl:0
